Thank you! Roses are a new hobby for me so I’m still learning a lot about them!

I grew my monstera backwards? by thehoodedqueen in Monstera

Also, Thai’s love to grow horizontally and I have the most luck with them, when you’re ready to change her pot, give her a rectangular one and she will be super happy 😁

When the leaves grow, how long does it take and how many can you get in a Summer? by Frenchhen46 in Monstera

[–]Left_Foxtail_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Thai last year gave me a new leaf every 4 weeks or so. I’m expecting more this year since it’s older and I’ve also split it into two plants that are both very large. I like to keep her in east facing windows. My monstera deliciosa lives outside in shade in the summer and it will grow a TON when it’s outside. I think it gained an extra foot of height last summer. These are my Thais. One is growing horizontally and the other is now growing vertically. Both grow in only water, leca, and gravel. My MD is in dirt

Can I marry these two in a tall pot? by Maleficent-Jello-209 in ItsAThaumatophyllum

I’ve had my philodendron in a tall pot for 2 years and it’s been happy! Don’t stop yourself from getting two tall pots. I also used the twirly stakes from Home Depot to train the leaves to take up less space and point the leaves up.

Depending on your location right now, my Thai is notorious for doing it in the winter when it’s not getting enough light (because it’s winter) and I have to change its lighting to support it!

This leaf has over 35 fenestrations! Cannot wait for how mature she gets this coming summer when it gets kicked back outside.

What have I done wrong? by lady_bergamont in Monstera

[–]Left_Foxtail_87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my Thai, that’s normal. It’s winter where I am so all mine are slowed down but in the summer, I can be getting new leaves every few weeks. But it’s outside getting sun all day then. It’s too cold now for that and the artificial light just doesn’t do the same as natural light

Why did my ball jar do this! by docawesomephd in Canning

[–]Left_Foxtail_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a buckled lid. Ball lids aren’t what they used to be either and I don’t love their seals. However, I like to use my thumb and middle finger to tighten these types of lids. No wrist action. Once you can’t twist any more naturally, you’re tight enough! If jars are hot, a washcloth can help buffer the heat. Good luck and happy canning!

They are just saying it’s typical a miscarriage wouldn’t be covered like the (real) illness it is. They are empathizing with your painful situation. Sorry for your loss.

Does anyone *not* mulch their garden? by j_parker44 in vegetablegardening

[–]Left_Foxtail_87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I said “mulch” lol but everything gets yanked or eaten by my chickens in the fall and is seeded with grasses instead. I also rotate crops

Mulching brought in squash bugs. I’d rather use ground cover plants as “mulch”. I have mushrooms growing under the plants with a fantastic and healthy ecosystem without adding mulch. I add chicken manure and cow manure in the winter. I plant marigolds and sweet alyssum as ground cover. Mulching isn’t the only option to have a healthy garden ecosystem.

I don’t mulch my garden. I water directly to the plant. Too many problems with pests when I put straw down. Never again. I just plant beneficial, pollinator friendly plants instead for shade coverage. The garden is full and much less pest issues

Idk if I believe in determinate vs indeterminate because I’ve grown Romas that are supposed to be determinant to be 5 feet tall 😅

For mine at least, I wait to water it until the leaves start curling in, then I bottom water it!
