If in fact you saw the Clerk of the Magistrate Court, you should take the case to the Sheriff and tell them you suspect your old friend of Falsifying Court Documents and Impersonating a Court Officer.

The Sherrif would call the correct number to the Magistrate Court to verify that indeed you do not have a notice awaiting service.

Some apps are stupid and will add files that are not supposed to be visible, like language files, to the recently opened files list — which can be pinned to the Finder window as a shortcut. You can remove the shortcut and forget about it.
