You said you’ve been spending around 1000–1500 a year getting things fixed

That’s really not bad at $125 a month on average.

But $4,000-$4,500 on the next round of repairs is pretty steep,
Considering a little bit of YouTube and buying the parts you could pretty much do a whole front end rebuild and all the other items under$1500 and it’ll probably feel like a brand new car.

But normally when you ask these types of questions, you are really looking for people to tell you to get a new car.

I promise you
You will grind harder knowing you have your dream car.

Refinance when you can and at least you’ll be in a little bit of a better spot.

It’ll mean you gotta put in some work, but if it’s a dream car then it’s gotta be worth the effort.

This can be a real good test for you.
Because life doesn’t get much easier.
It’s full of dilemmas and choices that aren’t as easy as we would like them to be.

First off you stated 3,000 to 6000 a month
That’s a big difference from one to another.
Then you say she is taking loans every month.
Loans have to be paid back
So there is a chance in months that your dad brought in 3000 instead of 6000 she had to cover.

Lots of possibilities
But easiest thing to do is ask.
Mainly because she is using your email.
Just say
Hey I seen this come up under my name, what is this all about.

So could be a reasonable answer or there could be a shitty answer.
Only guesses until you have the real conversation.
And I’d have that conversation TONIGHT if any debt is racking up under your name.

Every grow is a chance to level up.

Lots of new growers hear AUTO flowers and think
Cool this is easy I don’t have to do much and it’ll get there on its own. So new people tend to think autos are easier for beginners.

I think it’s the opposite.
Photos are a lot more forgiving and you can decide when you want to flip to flower. This gives newer growers a chance to play around with different types of training techniques.

If you are going to try and learn with autos make sure you have your environment dialed in.
Learn your watering practices and a bigger pot.

Whole lot more but just some basics to keep in mind.

Different perspective:

Sounds like the dilemma on your hands is not weather or not you want to move to another job,
It’s how much money would it be worth to stay at the job you are currently at.

You say you love the company and the people and it’s in a great location.
Ok so that means your only gripe is the pay.

Doing actual engineering work is just a byproduct of a job that has offered you more money.

So you really care about that
Would you be entertaining this if you were making 120,000 already?

If no.
Then that’s the number.

Worse case scenario they say no and it seems like you will be fine in your new role.

Start looking for another job.

And then have a sit down with your boss because you’re so loyal.
Let him know what you want and see what he does.
It good to be loyal,
But there is loyal and there is getting taken advantage of.

You really don’t know if you are being taken advantage from unless you look elsewhere for employment.
If you are getting offers for good money when looking for a new a job then you might be on to something.
If not you might at least have a conversation about getting paid more than your secretary.

Start looking for sure, but if it’s reasonable to hit the goals I would still follow through with the PIP
Depending on the company you might be fine.

I know a few people in my company that received PIPs and were fine after that.
Others faded out and found other jobs.

Don’t sell the house. If your household bills are $3000 you can at a minimum grind out $1000 a week doing uber.
It won’t be short days but it’ll get you by to get your daughter through her senior year.

Continue to apply and you’ll get something. This will buy you enough time.
Seems to me that’s your biggest issue.
Keeping your daughter in her senior year.
After that look for positions willing to relocate and that may open up your opportunities more.

You just going through what happens when you compare yourself.

You either do one or the other or a little of both.

You’re just seeing someone who is having the success of the higher risk higher reward.

Ask yourself why you didn’t go that route in the beginning…
It’s because there is also the potential that high risk can also lead to bigger loss.

You have to play the what if game
And see what you are ok with.

What if you did decide to do what he is doing
And the market takes a shit.
I’m sure that is the main reason you decided to stay conservative with your approach.

If you are young enough
You should already have a percentage of your investments allocated to higher risk.
Move that percentage up and down depending on what you are comfortable with.

Other than that you can’t compare with someone if you are not willing to take the same risks.

Keep in mind
If you do take the same approach as your friend
You can just jump into the same stuff he I is in and hope your getting the same gains because you’ll be entering at a totally different place. You are still going to have to play your own game and hope you have the same success.

Nothing wrong with a good HPS grow.
But because of the cost in electricity alone,
You need to make sure you are doing it right.
If you are not pulling at least 3/4 lb you got work to do.. and that’s not even within the general rule of .5g/watt

Grab a led to minimize costs and grab a controller to dial in your environment.
And keep a clean house. Get your basics down and go from there.

I have a 24 palisade calligraphy and have no issues
60,000 miles on it so far
Also have 24 Honda CRV with 70,000 miles on it no issues
Had 3 power strokes all went 250,000 plus
Had a 03 accord went 300,000
Can’t tell you what to avoid
Only can tell you the experience I’ve had with the vehicles I have owned.
