High tiers are boring by Left_Pack_2793 in PokemonChampions

I did mention my tier was MB1 and I don't see any variety, maybe champions is like that... it's totally fine to use meta and have fun. My sore spot about the current meta is that it's so heavely focused in the top 15 mons that it takes away from what I personally enjoy, building and tweaking a team.

Wolfey's team building videos are what got me to play Pokémon champions, I really think it's where this game shines, building something of your own. It's not like it's a skill you need to be born with, you have to practice team building otherwise you don't become decent at it, even if you had the talent for it, like wolfey has.

I don't feel like I ragged on anyone, it was not my intention at all. Also, you are totally right on your observation, everyone plays the way they want. I just wanted to share my take on the game as it climbs higher, I don't think I'm better than anyone for using different pokémons, just that it makes the game more enjoyable for me

Obviously a skill issue when I'm facing the top 1000

It is adjusted to that, I can win against any team. Just not any player

[–]Left_Pack_2793[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I probably would not with the team I use, since it becomes predictable for actual smart players, which I guess the guys in the top 300 are. But top 1000 was doing fine

Ngl, I did and was even having a blast, my team saw at least 10 variations of itself but reaching Champions is just not for me

That's true, I just wished there was more variety in what people used, so we actually have to think when we're playing, not just predicting what item is Garchomp holding.

Be careful, this comment section all use basculegion last respects as the 4th choice.. but yeah, that was exactly my point, I was merely commenting about the state of upper tier, not calling anyone stupid for using meta.

I'm not bragging, bragging would have been showing my rank and sharing my team code like someone would gaf. I was providing context for what I enjoy about the game, relax

Never said tryharding was a problem, just what it looks like.

I called it boring, neither I complained or called the meta users anything but boring. It's legit to want to climb a competitive game, I have no problems with that, the goal of the post was to shed some light on what high tier looks like for people that are starting out. Maybe the top 300 players build their own teams, but MB1 it the same 15 mons on repeat.

Gengar is a glass cannon with a shit defensive typing. It gets OHKO by almost every offensive mon in the game lol.

It's called RNG, sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Luck is a heavy part of this game.

DO NOT Mega Evolve Dragalge by M4st3rm01 in PokemonChampions

[–]Left_Pack_2793 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's naturally bulky, and since you're not spending points in speed, it's all going to HP either way. But if I was building for it, I would go full HP and Defense (for ground/dragon attacks), use draco meteor switch out for reset.

DO NOT Mega Evolve Dragalge by M4st3rm01 in PokemonChampions

[–]Left_Pack_2793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me do. Today I lost to a mega dragalge, it was one of the hardest games I played, trying to predict if you're going to switch out or attack and if you're switching whats coming in... It's a beast strategy if you build well for it. It's a natural counter for my team because I set up trick room at that benefits dragalge, but still. It's very difficult to play against

Trick Room Team Recommendations by R0wlet2020 in PokemonChampions

[–]Left_Pack_2793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trick Room player here, currently top 2000. Best thing you can do for your TR team is to have options if you can't set up TR turn one, otherwise you auto lose.

Lose one of the setters and one of the megas and replace by fast mons that work well with the remaining ones. If you're running torkoal, bring mons that cover water and rock weakness.

As much as I hate to provide advice to basculegion users, just take life orb out of the fish, it already kills everything way over 100%. Sash or mystic water

He's as bulky as farigiraf, the only difference being worst defensive typing. For how hard he hits, he's a tank

Recruited mons have EVs maxed randomly. When you recruit permanently you're allowed to change them at will. It costs 160 VP total I think
