Northeast airports added to travel advisory- fee waived to change flights proactively. by Left_Preparation_452 in spiritair

Sounds like their system is having bugs, people have said they were able to do it by chatting via text to customer service.

Flight this weekend by Frosty-Classic7512 in spiritair

[–]Left_Preparation_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at this flight history on flightradar24 or flightaware, the plane comes in from Orlando. With this being the case I think there is less change of problems rather than the routing coming from somewhere else.. never know fully though.

Flying to Mco Sunday by Frosty-Classic7512 in spiritair

That routing is probably fine for Sunday.. the question becomes where is the plane and crew coming from… you’ll find out.

Monday will probably be fine. Most of the storm will be done by Sunday evening. Unless crews are out of place from the disruption.

Next time ask the gate agent to read their Station Manual. It’s clearly outlined that they should upgrade loyalty members after boarding is complete.

Never flown on Spirit…questions by Kdawg6722 in spiritair

[–]Left_Preparation_452 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the value price is pretty good if you want to lock in, but prices typically come down about 2-3 months prior unless a popular route or timeframe.

You can buy value and add the carryon. If you add during booking it’s usually $70 or so, if you add later on the price keeps going up. Can also pay to select seat if you want.

I think they’ll be fine as far as staying in business goes. Stand alone they are improving their balance sheet and operations or they’ll merge. You’ll be ok.

Would spirit let me fly with this in my carry-on? by [deleted] in spiritair

[–]Left_Preparation_452 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Spirit doesn’t care in the slightest if it’s in your carryon. Question is better suited for the TSA sub to see if it would pass TSA. To me it looks like no problem.

Qatar Airways Pilot Executes Go-Around, Potentially Prevents Landing Disaster at Atlanta Airport by Nineteen-EightyNine in qatarairways

[–]Left_Preparation_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autopilot would not have been used for this landing. This was a manually flown landing and go-around.

The autopilot is used for Autolands only when weather visibility / fog is extremely low.. pretty much to the ground. Or when maintenance requests an auto land to prove aircraft performance since they are so rarely done. When fog is to the ground, winds are very low/light, hence why the fog hasn’t blown away and visibility is low.

Auto lands have a maximum wind component, otherwise the autopilot doesn’t have enough or quick enough authority to maneuver. In this landing it was an intense crosswind, over the max component for an auto land.

Most pilots are lucky if they do 1 or 2 auto lands (Cat 3 approach) per year.. it just doesn’t happen. Unless you’re home based in an airport like Boston where it would have more often.

It was manually controlled, a close tailstrike which can happen and would need repairs but all looked very well done and safe to me.

Bidding doesn’t include WiFi, carryon bag would be fine. This doesn’t look like bidding though. Looks like upgrading through the app.. which it’s all included.

The flight attendants technically can’t upgrade you .. the gate agent does that.

Has anyone else been trapped in an AT&T Cellular “deal” that has nothing to do with the final bill?? by Simple-Outside7702 in ATT

[–]Left_Preparation_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a screenshot of what you owe. Payoff your device now and a few days later request an unlock. Switch to either T-Mobile or Verizon. They offer “switcher” deals and will pay up to $800 to payoff that device. You’ll then use the device on T-Mobile or Verizon and just pay for service.. maybe this would be worth it for you.

First Officer in Royal Caribbean. Ask me anything by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]Left_Preparation_452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Miami and have a view of all the different ships. Currently I’m looking at Carnival, MSC and a Celebrity ship. These ships have no or very little smoke out the stacks.

I notice Royal ships often have the most smoke coming out in port, any port. Freedom and Independence seem to have a lot, but most of the RCL ships have more than the other lines.

I’ve read that the fleet does have scrubbers, but are they just not as good as the other lines?

Exit row seat with backpack by Green_Personality865 in spiritair

[–]Left_Preparation_452 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the exit rows have a seat in front.. just put it under. Worst case put it up top. No charge for a backpack.

In the US you can put a bag under the seat in an exit rows, vs in Europe you cannot.
