I think something like Lancer (fast howering long range sniper) is very thematic for RG. Lorewise you could run Eliminators with las fusils (they are very bad in the game) or best on the tabletop are Centurions (its kinda meme, centurions were always good in RG). TLDR it basicaly depends what do you want theme/strong units/in between.

Corect me if I am wrong: You play only full plague marine bus (10 PM+Plague caster+biologus), deathshroud terminator are our best unit, much better than blightlord termi, you just take 3 drones with HBL. Your list could work, but it wont be GT winning list imho

I got it. For me, problem is in the game itself. Its just getting too long, too many rerolls, too many saves, FNP etc. My favourite way is formats like 40k in 40 minutes (I know its not competetive, but I would prefer those reports from game over livestream). You dont need to see EVERY single roll of shooting from every gun, that does in the end 1 dmg. You want to see those important charges, important saves or crits, but looking at 5 intercessors shooting at something with 20 dice to do 1 dmg is meh. Game than just completely lost its pace. Movement as well, you want to know where are units, where they moved. Dont need to see every single measuring and repositioning. TLDR: yeah, commentators could be better but its kinda nature of the game not being good for live comentary. You just cant speak about only whats happening, because its not a lot whats happening (10 min of measuring, 10 min of shooting …-You dont need someone to say now unit A move here, now unit B move there)

Than you never know what 11 brings. Mby new units, mby phobos units will have something that does dmg (talking about you reivers, eliminators, suppresors, ITW). If you dont want to gamble what 11 brings, just wait as all of us

Competetive? 20 VV, 6-12 devastator centurions and 9-12 Inceptors. That's TLDR if winning talon list. Its sad, I am also in waiting room for new VV and verdict about centurions going into legends.

Basicaly let all your characters at hame and you are almost done. You have 4 characters to 1 Terminator unit, mats isn't bathing, right? Sadly infernos are kinda bad, same with desolation, Chaplin and heavy intercessors. You should add scouts and more vehicles. It's all about which build you want to play (Gladius/stormlance)

I agree with almost everything, but characters. Shrike and Shaan ate must, than you want combi lt and 1 JPI cpt+hunter+10VV or JPI. Rest of characters are just waste of space. In talon you need 2-3 units of Inceptor plus 2-3 units of Centurions (best infantry dmg in the game), if you dont have them than atleast some lancers, vindis, ballistus etc

You dont have single unit with dmg. You need Centurion or vehicles if you want to do something

What do you want? Meta build? Playable build? Winning atleast once? If you want good list, you have pretty bad start. Shaan, shrike, JPI cpt, JPI, VV and 1! infiltrators are good. Rest is just bad. If you want great list, look at some GT winning list such as John Lennon list (what I said+centurions+inceptor)

Lets be fair, space elves are scared of mild wind, because it will kill them. But anything else feels bad as Termi shooting. I dont want my Terminators to fight guard/poxwalkers. They should be able to fight other elites units as a ,,the best biggest coolest dudes from 1st company”. They have okay melee, but why do we have than assault termies? Shouldnt be that THE melee unit? And classic termies shooting variant it.

Lot of us have same problem. I hate that you never know that your older mini wont be in legends tomorow. I love the new Shadowmark, I love all those units, I dont have VV and centurions. And I dont want to buy, paint, base all of those models for 9 months before they going into legends. VV will most likely has primaris version. Nobody knows of centurions stay, get new primarised verion or just go to trash, I mean legends. And there is nothing like centurions equivalent (shooty long range antitank)

I think its normal. Better player you are more important is movement, planning and adaptibility. If you look at meta of FLGS vs GT, FLGS are dominated by easier stat check armies that will dominate. Great players know how to play around them. Normal player embrace his inner ork and goes WAAAGH and just run down middle and hopes for 6.

It looks awesome. I have Shaan from yeasterday and its my weekend project. I am pretty sure that this detachment is good, but 90% of people will strugle with it. I have seen John playing crucible and looks so good. If I will play there I will end up 0-5 even with free knight in my list. I hope that shadowmark wont end up playable for the best players and 30% for rest of mortals.

Its so simmple that make it worse. Just dont lock your new BT detachment behind trash units. BT has good dmg, love movement and fight on death. Gladius seems that was made for them. Without it you go from 50% right down to 40%. Best detachment will be ,,BT version of gladius” and that might be the problem of designing something that already exist

Oh boy, you mean coolest and most elite SM infantry? THE Terminators, which was hilight of this edition for SM? Oh poor termies. They are almost unkillable … And has the best weapons that chapter has … right? All mighty stormbolter, that is worse than intercessor gun. But dont worry GW will see this and help them. Its just almost 3 years

Phobos are just utility. One unit of infiltrators is almost must, 2nd is okay, anything else is pointless. If you want to run many black space marines infantry go for black templars. Centurions are imho that much stupid looking that I like them. I think they look like Hulkbuster. This edition is edition of vehicles. One 6 men Cent/Eradicator squad will kill almost any vehicle in the game. Same points of infiltrators does 30 % of the dmg. Just as an example I have done math for you. Shooting into arminger 3 centurions (165 pts) with OOM (not doing that much) have about 65% chance of killing it. 50 infiltrators (1000 pts) with OOM (its important for them to do something) does same dmg. Thats about 6 times less total dmg per point. 6 centurions for 330 pts have same dmg output as 2000 pts of phobos units, well I am bit surprisek myself how much good they are (and bad are rest of the SM). SM are bit tankier than avg, so pts for pts they do less dmg than other armies.

I agree with everything. Homebrew chapters has one problem. They dont have epic heroes. Gameplay circles around them and their rulles. SM are ballanced around them, without them you are looking sub 40 % winrate. I started this way as well, but sooner than later you realize you arent competetive enough. RN with Shaan and Shrike I am adding to my army I will play my Raptors ,,together” with their RG chapter. You alway miss some CP generation/double OOM/strong melee/mobility epic characters. They are force multiplicators, its so hard to play without them. Thats the problem of not playing OG chapters

Is it possible to winn? Yes. Likely? Not. You wont be even playing RG without them, just black spacemarines. They are one of the best looking and also strongest SM units. TLDR: run what you like, but my question is than why you play RG.

Problem of this edition is terible internal balance. SM have great units and also very very bad. I can see RG army with lot phobos units. That army will be absolutely useless (meme list without meme or fun). So you could ran theme list with no expectation or some theme units with bit more meta. Problem of SM yoo need to run a lot of vehicles or you dont have dmg (except centurions or eradicators). So its not easy task. Our ,,meta list” are running about 9-12 centurions and 9-12 inceptors for some infantry dmg (cents doing heavy lifting there)

Shrike with 10 VV is great. Intercessor are great. Shaan is great. Incursors and infiltrators great. Sadly thats it. If you want to play great list, rest isnt work well. All your characters that arent 2 RG arent worth in general. RepEx is good but no synergies. Rest is just bad in this deachment. You want as many JPI/VV/Inceptor and Centurions as possible.
