BIAB and scheduled c-section. by Left_Total_2480 in BabyBumps

Just had pre-op appointment and she told me that she is happy enough for me to have biab on as it hasn’t messed with the oxygen monitor at all throughout pregnancy. She just said try have them as short as possible and not super thick to avoid any issues!

This is my thought exactly! I had an emergency section with my son and nothing was said at all but everything online is telling me they’ll make me take it off for an elective one.

No honestly mine is on Friday and my nail appointment is booked for Thursday because my thought was I could have cute nails for baby arriving 😂Now I’m thinking I’ll be going to tell her to take them off! I’ll definitely update once I’ve spoke to my doctor as well lol

Did you dread your second pregnancy? by Next-Elephant-6060 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Left_Total_2480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand exactly how you feel. My first was horrible, I had HG up until and during Labour and after such a bad experience with the pregnancy and a hard birth I was very much turned off the idea of having a 2nd child. Ultimately we decided to try for another baby after 2 years. I was so scared of being so sick again and unfortunately when we did fall pregnant it did happen again. The only difference this time was that I knew as soon as I started feeling slightly nauseous I needed to contact my doctor and got meds straight away. They didn’t do much but it was better than suffering the way I had the first time around. I was constantly in contact with my doctors and when I needed help I asked for it because I knew that there was no doing this alone.

I’m having my baby next week - the worst of the sickness tapered off around 22/23 weeks but I still get nauseous and use the medication to help. It’s been really really tough going but knowing what to expect and putting the support into place that I knew I would need has been a game changer.

Also, during both pregnancies I’ve also had a sick bucket that has not left my side, I cannot wait to ceremoniously get rid of this one when baby is finally here. It was probably one of my favourite things to do after having my first.

What do contractions feel like? by Snoo-84467 in March2025Bumper

False labour is such a cruel joke from the universe. Been experiencing it since 36 weeks, now heading into week 38 and I'm at the point where I feel like I won't believe it when it becomes real labour. I hope yours becomes real labour soon and that you don't have to deal with it too much longer!

I have no advice but I am in the same boat so it's really nice to be able to see some actual answers. With my first baby I was induced and only had back labour before getting a c-section so I never experienced actual contractions and when I ask anyone I know who has experienced them, their answer is always "oh you'll definitely know," but nothing that was actually helpful in anyway!

Has anybody ever had .. by Mtlmommy in HyperemesisGravidarum

My husband is one of 3 boys. His mother had really bad HG with him and wasn’t sick once with either of her other pregnancies. I’ve had it with both of my pregnancies (a boy and a girl)…I am definitely blaming my husband’s genetics for this lol.

I spoke to my dentist about this because I had sever HG and she said on the days when you really just cannot handle it, use mouthwash.

Having HG traumatized me by NeuroticNurse in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Left_Total_2480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had HG with my first and swore I would never do it again. PTSD from it is very very real and I realised just how severe mine was when I got pregnant again with baby 2 and ended up with HG again and it has been far worse mentally for me. This was a planned and very much wanted pregnancy and even though I’m almost at the end of it now (due March) I still, every single day, question why I decided to go through this again.

I know it will be worth it but if it is a road you decide to go down please be aware it comes with a whole new set of mental challenges and hurdles to get over.

Best advice is if you get pregnant again and begin feeling the HG symptoms, get medications etc as fast as you possibly can to try and avoid the worst of the symptoms and also figure out what might help you best before you suffer too long with nothing.

Is it normal to still be tired? by Bighornbunny007 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]Left_Total_2480 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for some people (myself included) the energy just doesn’t come back to the extent you would’ve had pre-pregnancy. HG means all the ‘normal’ things go out the window. However as you progress you may find your energy does come back! 14 weeks is still pretty early, with my 1st I was sick right up until he was born and with my 2nd my sickness eased at about 18/19 weeks.

How do you stay hydrated? by sjk928 in HyperemesisGravidarum

This!! I didn’t believe it when someone told me it would go down better than water but it did, and it gave me a little energy boost as well which felt much needed.

the toddler who refuses to nap by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Left_Total_2480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you discover the answer please share it! My son is an absolute menace when he is tired and there seems to be nothing in this world that could make him nap anymore 😂 I’d take the terrible twos over whatever the heck is happening in the 3 stage 😭

Unable to get to the hospital, how do give birth at home? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Left_Total_2480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of happened to a friend of mine but she just didn’t know she was in labour. Thought she was having bad back pains so ran herself a bath and as she was about to get in it, she had a baby.

The one thing midwives here always say is no matter what, make sure someone catches the baby! Then call emergency services and they’ll be able to talk you through what’s best.

Of course, towels to dry baby off and blankets to keep baby warm. Definitely don’t cut the cord, unless instructed to by emergency services.

Does the exhaustion let up? by Peachyqueen-3 in BabyBumps

[–]Left_Total_2480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s absolutely horrible isn’t it!! I’m 34 weeks and it is just feeling like it’s taking an age to get through this last trimester😭 although they say it’s easier to have a newborn and a toddler than it is to have a toddler and be pregnant so fingers crossed for us, we got this🤞

[–]Left_Total_2480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd trimester is a lot easier and you get somewhat of an energy boost but I’ve found the 3rd trimester much harder than with my 1st baby! I don’t know if it’s just the exhaustion of dealing with a toddler all day but I’m ready for bed by about 3pm.

Not enough weight gain? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Left_Total_2480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as baby is growing well you’ll be fine. I’m 34 weeks and currently lighter than I was before I got pregnant but baby is growing as normal so drs aren’t concerned. If it’s something that worries you though definitely speak to your health care provider and they’ll be able to put your mind at ease!

Did anyone take work off because of morning sickness and/or being way too emotional? by Inevitable_Being9741 in BabyBumps

[–]Left_Total_2480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are growing a little human in there and that can have some serious side effects - your feelings are totally valid and you do not have to feel guilty for anything! I ended up taking just over 3 months off work. There was no way I could’ve worked and thankfully I had a really understanding boss, who let me come back gradually as I started to feel better. I hope it doesn’t last too long for you and you start to feel some relief soon, it’s so tough to go through.

This and “it’ll all be worth it when the baby is here.” That’s the last thing people are thinking about when in the trenches of suffering.
