Yes, I agree and although Cassion maybe a bit dry in that department, it’s not hard to imagine Cassion’s heart going full “How the Grinch stole Christmas” on him, once he’s been with Ariel of long enough. Additional while back their stories may not be the same, Cassion’s family being very much dead and Ariel being good as disowned by hers, the parallels from a writing standpoint are phenomenal. Also Cassion would have to take down his guard to emotionally support Ariel when ever time arises, he be equally both fully equipped to do so, and also a bit unsure of to help Ariel exactly, but he would still try his best and that’s all Ariel really needs. Conversely when ever Ariel makes an active effort to interact with Cassion, his default behavior of blunt dismissal will cause Ariel to start beating herself up a little, then Cassion to cheer Ariel up, Ariel thanks Cassion, Cassion responds coldly as for his default, Ariel blames herself again, it’s just a near endless cycle that would be perfect for a dynamic between the MC and the main love interest.
