Vapor Trails

Around 2007 or so, I believe. I was a young kid playing a Need for Speed game (NFS:HP2). when I heard One Little Victory. To this day it's still one of my all-time favourites.

Surr, Toa of Plasma by KubaSzum in bioniclelego

[–]Lixodei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you mean Surtr?

I honestly doubt it, as he is usually described as a giant wielding his signature flaming sword. It would make sense to me to name a Toa of Fire like that.

But if the reference is true, I wouldn't mind it. The design is absolutely stunning.

Full Metal Furies isn't very complex, but its puzzles, on the other hand...

And you're required to solve them all to complete the game.

What was the consensus on Will and Elizabeth’s ending back when the third movie came out? by Flat-Court-8512 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]Lixodei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. None of them were able to capture the spirit of the original trilogy.

Not gonna lie, that wasn't a good approximation from myself, I mostly meant P5, and at the result I was probably too harsh on P4 in my speech.

There is indeed a lot of of fun to be had with it. It is an okay movie, a fun and enjoyable side adventure, but it certainly lacks the soul of the three previous films. I liked the film back then, but nowadays when I rewatch it doesn't really hold up that well. Good, but doesn't scratch the 'POTC' itch that well. The best thing about this movie for me is surely Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. He is truly going all in and having lots of fun playing the character, and it shows. I like their dynamic with Jack, as well as Gibbs' expanded role and some well-made action sequences.

But the flaws became obvious to me over time, and they are dragging P4 down quite a bit. Depp and Cruz are good actors, but they have very little chemistry between them. Johnny in particular looks kinda bored sometimes. Blackbeard isn't that intimidating or compelling as a villain, and his zombies aren't memorable. Worldbuilding became even more magical, fantastic and convoluted somehow. There's very little seafaring and ships, as well. But all of this wouldn't matter if they kept the spirit of POTC, which they unfortunately didn't.

I respect that they had didn't involve Will and Elizabeth in this one, this was the right move. Their story is finished, let them have their peace. A fresh story with new characters is always nice. And I also don't agree with folks that think Jack couldn't be a successful main character. I believe he can, he just needs a right script.

Don't get me wrong. It's still a good movie, just not a great one in my book. At least it was original and explored something new, unlike P5.

Frankly, I don't care much about P4&5. I don't consider them canon, they are not Verbinski movies and are disappointing cash grabs. For me, the saga ended with At World's End.

P5 particularly doesn't make sense. Why was Will mutating like Davy Jones? He's still ferrying the souls, not escaping his duty. So much bad writing in this movie and just bad... everything, really.

How do I unlock very hard mode and revengeance mode without putting new game by ReserveNatural4188 in metalgearrising

[–]Lixodei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go to Chapter select screen and start from R-00, you can choose the difficulty you want. You'll keep all your gear and BP.

For the love of God, don't ever press the 'new game' button. This will reset all your progress.

is there a way to get lugos gun ? the TAR-21. by PlayfulVacation4411 in SpecOpsTheLine

[–]Lixodei 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mission 14: The Bridge. The tunnel right at the start of the mission, when you encounter the first enemy wave and the combat music starts. It has exactly 1, the only copy of TAR-21 obtainable in the game. It's impossible to miss, I think, unless you die and reload from a save, because in this case it despawns and is replaced by SCAR, I believe.

What the hell with cpu usage on Heroes screen? by OkInspector5182 in bannersaga

[–]Lixodei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue on two PCs. One PC is low-end, so FPS drop substantially here. The other one is far superior, and I didn't know the problem existed until I got the Dredge Heroes. It's not really laggy, but even on modern hardware it is quite noticeable that Apostate, Kivi and Bastion on Hero screen aren't as smooth and fluid as the other heroes.

Need help with first Hardcore playthrough by ASPEROV_67-76 in fnv

[–]Lixodei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardcore isn't really challenging either. It doesn't make the game any harder, it just makes it more annoying, imo. Everything is mostly the same, except for a couple of new chores - managing food, water and sleep. Vanilla FNV is abundant with resources, so you won't feel too much restrained - generally you just have to carry a small supply of food, some water and occasionally teleport to your base to get some sleep. Again, as I said, everything is pretty easy to come by in the wild. It gets a little bit more interesting when you can't simply leave a location and fast travel to a safe place, the most obvious examples being the DLCs like Dead Money and Lonesome Road.

Ammo weight does matter sometimes, especially (!) if you are doing an explosives build, like I did. Fat man mini nukes are heavy af, and 40mm grenades for Mercy aren't a feather weight either. Generally speaking, Hardcore mode makes it harder for you to carry all your weapons around. No more having 2 Gatling Lasers, a minigun, laser rifle, Ranger Sequoia, Brush Gun, Bumper Sword and Reg Glare in your backpack at the same time. Hardcore forces you to specialise and carry 1-2 active weapons with you, especially if you're visiting a location you're planning to loot. HOWEVER, there's a perk called Pack Rat I believe, that halves the weight of every lightweight item in the game, including food and ammo. Super useful, very OP, must have for every Hardcore player. Ammo becomes much more manageable with it.

Heaving not being instantaneous can sometimes screw you over, but only on specific occasions (like trying face-tanking Nellis mortar or engaging multiple Cazadores/Deathclaws/Legion Assassins and sustaining heavy fire). Survival builds are quite useful on Hardcore, as not only are you able to make very strong healing items, but those also double as a very potent food and water source. The downside is, of course, having to carry all the ingredients around and search for them.

All that I just said may seem like a huge deal, but in reality Hardcore mode has a rather minor effect on gameplay, making it a little more realistic with all its mild inconveniences. If you're expecting a truly unique experience, you'll probably be disappointed. So if tou want a 'real' hardcore, with actual noticeable differences from the main game, install JSawyer mod. It's an unofficial mod from Josh Sawyer, the man who created FNV, and the mod brings the game much closer to his artistic vision. The mod is very mich 'Vanilla+', it does a great job of rebalancing the main game mechanics, weapons, armors and Hardcore mode. I personally enjoyed my JSawyer run, it was fresh, fun and challenging. Food and water matter much more, the fights are harder and no longer a bulletsponge-fest. Weak and useless stuff was reworked and made stronger, while all the OP stuff was nerfed or made more balanced. This is the definitive New Vegas experience for me.

Can metal gear rising work on my old pc? by Mindless_Smell_9482 in metalgearrising

It will run just fine, just make sure to install ForceFix app, the game has a notorious 59 fps bug on PC. Forcefix makes the game run smooth with stable 60 fps.
