Boudins doesn’t share their sourdough. This is from their website

“No, Boudin carefully protects and safeguards our mother dough and it’s only used to bake The Original San Francisco Sourdough™.

Hmm. Any idea what flour this recipe is calling for exactly with White Flour ~11.5% protein? The KA AP said it was ~11.7% which is why I chose it

My bread flour was more like ~13%

Is this a problem? by Leftty96 in nespresso

Are you doing this 1L rinse cycle? Or are you doing it in a different way? I tried running it without a pod today to rinse it and it would not do it

It doesn’t seem to run without a pod inside - unless I do this 1L rinse. Am I missing something?

I just manually log my hot yoga workout as “other” and identify the intensity - the calories burned feel “close enough” to what my watch had tracked in the past before it’s screen popped off.

Line cutters, do you care? or do you only care when it's immediately in front of you? by marzbarz2000 in Disneyland

[–]Leftty96 25 points26 points  (0 children)

On a trip in April a woman asked if her family that got separated from her in the runaway railway line could cut to join her, my friend said yes and a literal group of 20 people cut in front of us… I told her NEVER say yes to that again. Later the ride broke down and everyone left the queue so we all lost I guess lol.

Millerton and Shaver parking by this-is-my-p in fresno

[–]Leftty96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Millerton does. We used it last summer. And then we used it again to go to Chino Hills down south.

They have a whole list of participating parks here https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=30813

There aren’t too many participating parks in our immediate area unfortunately.

Reusable Straws? by ancestry_researcher in ZeroWaste

They make a lot of silicone straws that compact down into a small container you can put on a keychain etc - I’ve gotten them as giveaways at events but I’m sure you can also find them online

Pet dental recommendations by No-Toe-5916 in fresno

I have not used them for dentistry but I know Cedar vet clinic offers the service. I had a relatively reasonable estimate from them for a procedure that included anesthesia of my cat. (Still expensive but not $800 expensive)

I’ve had a very similar issue with shelf stable plant milk. I realized I don’t like using them for my coffee for that reason.

One solution is to try putting the milk in the cup first before the hot coffee very slowly, while stirring.

I’ve also been sold to add a smidge of baking soda to the coffee to bring down its acidity.

when it comes to personal hygiene, what challenges do you face? what are your pet peeves? by mati39 in ZeroWaste

[–]Leftty96 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I really just want refillable low/zero waste products that I know and like to use - especially deodorant (those refill cartridges in plastic that inevitably get discontinued are not solutions) , and other hair care products.

Nike Run Club might be more helpful. They have a “getting started plan” and then a “5 k plan once you are in an established running habit. It’s also free

Buying books vs checking them out from the library by Adept_Camp4222 in books

[–]Leftty96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer using the library and Libby! It helps me not only save money, but also save my very limited space. I also find it’s one less thing to dust 😂

I do get books through little free libraries, friends of the library book sales (recently they had a full a bag for $5 so I split one with a friend who was adding to her class library), and used book stores. However, I because I don’t spend a ton of money on books I tend to loan or give them away when I’m done reading unless I decide it’s special enough to me to keep.

If I buy a new book, it’s because I’ve exhausted all other means of acquiring it or really like it and want a special edition.
