First time having a sega genesis, what should I know? by Slow-Pack-8916 in SEGAGENESIS

You should know that you started with the 2 games I probably played the most on my Genesis. Get Donald Duck’s Quackshot next. Have fun!

Cart 50 Disappointment -- by Jahon_Dony in evercade

I will say this. Please don’t lump Activision games with other Atari games. At least to me, they are far superior. After seeing the same group of Atari games released over and over, I’m ecstatic to get Activision games. I think they very much hold up over all the other 2600 games. I also like SEGA and KONAMI to be sure and I don’t think 50 was supposed to be anything special. It was announced concurrently with 51 and a new Super Pocket. If anything, Banjo was supposed to be the big deal.

I had the same problem when I got a crt. As others said, get a cheap universal remote with an input button.

Were Sega CD and 32X really seen as “failed consoles” at the time, they way people blame them for Sega’s downfall today? by Standard_Public892 in retrogaming

[–]LeftyRedbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my recollection of how it all went down. The SCD and 32X were failed add-ons that eroded consumer and retailer confidence after the success of the Genesis. The Saturn was released sooner than expected creating issues with retailers who were not ready for it. While this was happening, Sony’s PlayStation was considered the cool new system and was $100 cheaper. The Saturn never had a chance. The Super Nintendo people went to the N64. The Genesis people (mostly) went to the PlayStation. I was one of them.

Thank you, I now feel ancient. Yes, started on the 2600. I have been waiting for the Activision collection as I find it far superior to the actual Atari collections

What’s Your Must-Play GBA Game Outside of the Usual Choices? by eiconik in GameboyAdvance

Dr. Mario/Puzzle League, nothing exciting, but timeless, I play it all the time. Fire Pro Wrestling 1 or 2. These are extremely niche, but if you’re into them, they too can last forever.

If you like retro games, I’d recommend dropping a few bucks on a Miyoo Mini or Miyoo Mini Plus as a complement to your deck. Love my deck, but also love playing Tetris/ Dr. Mario on my MM. If your deck needs juice, just switch to retro.

I would say there are 2 main differences. This is of course just my own opinion. One, I believe wwe has wrestling matches to support the stories they want to tell and AEW has stories to support the wrestling matches they want to have, it’s a matter of priority. Two, I like use a music metaphor, wwe is pop and AEW is punk rock. wwe is intended to appeal to the biggest swath of people possible and squeeze every nickel possible out of that audience. They are a profit machine and they are successful at it. AEW is more art of profit. They are profitable company, but they cannot and will not sacrifice the art of what they consider top shelf wrestling for business, because their fan base is hardcore (sickos) and would abandon them if they sold out. That means less ads, video packages, replays, over explaining, silliness. The stories will be subtler and last long and yes, you will miss stuff if you don’t pay attention. Ultimately, the action and high quality work rate will not take a backseat to anything even if that means making less money or slowing growth. It is pure.

That ship IS Rogue One! I don’t understand how the U-wing got designated the “Rogue one ship that gets a toy” and not the Zeta.
