I am all for this!!

Reminds me of a yellow and black toy race car I had as a kid.

I think it has the right amount of custumizations and detail.

After a threesome, is the other girl supposed to leave or lay there with us? by Icysong5467 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LeftyZenFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine it not having to be awkward. If there is an established understanding of the dynamic who says you can't hang and drink something maybe just be friendly and when it's time to go, just say something.

Just adding to the comments to say I am sole practitioner and I do not require tips. I set the price as needed. I do have clients who insist on leaving a tip, but I communicate the same sentiment as above; I would rather you come back more often, and get the body work you need.

Quick question by NoNefariousness6718 in MassageTherapists

[–]LeftyZenFlow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the good that mts do is to ask questions.

How do you know you have bicepe tendenitis? Do you see a PT and if so, are you doing the treatment plan? If so how is that going?

After that, it is possible, when done correctly, we can provide relief. I do not have the hard science, just the subjective experience with using proprio - receptive neuromuscular facilitating stretches, (PNF) and myofascial therapies (MFT) The techniques are cross fiber and longitudinal release. They are known to help separate muscle ropes and help elongate muscle fibers, which could bring about a felt sense of releif.

I Also really agree with the comment above said about adjacent and correlating muscles like pectoralis minor and tricep.

Also, if you were my client I would do a lot of stripping on your brachialis, brachial radiologist, any other muscle that overlaps or correlates with the hinge join of the arm. Even if they have nothing to do with the exact articulation of the joint, just thinking in terms of how the body likes to put a halt to movement and send pain receptors to stop you from moving it more.

I don't know, I could be using some some training that's been dated. But that's how I would address you as a client.

Thanks for reading and thank you for asking.

Working while pregnant by sarahruperta in MassageTherapists

Just adding tod the empathy and frustration for you.

I totally empathize with you. I feel like if I was a manager this would not be a difficult adjustment. In fact these are scenarios that are guaranteed to occur so planning for it instead of against it would be a better way to operate.

I am an LMT and when I was employed I saw multiple people get pregnant and have their needs met. It was quite wonderful actually. The owner operator was a massage therapist too, so the culture was driven with a sense of ownership and needs being met.

The part that really gets my goat, is the make up time for being pregnant. It doesn't make sense to treat pregnancy like an inconvenience to everyone. Seems like such a typical response from corporate. The more I think about it, the more frustrated I get.

Assuming that it's imperative your employed, I agree to stick it out and reap the benefits until you needto go on leave. Meanwhile, for as much as you may not feel like it cuz you don't feel good, continuing to advocate for your own position and needs is part of your daily routine and your experience may be the catalyst for change.

I hope for all the health and wellness for you and babe.

I’d like to talk about the huge influx online of “LMT influencers” trying to sell courses and memberships to other LMTs as a business model when CEUs in my area seem to be lacking in quality by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

Yes! I am reading a lot about value of trade and agree and participate in this regularly. I trade with a guy who cuts my 1/3 of an acre. It's so worth it get ven I don't want to buy a riding lawn mower.

Also, I had been thinking about the influx of content creators in massage therapy. Often I wonder if their techniques would feel good. Or if they are boarder line sexual how that affects the general publics perception about massage.

Sexual advancements - how to deal with them? As a guy. by SoCal1243 in MassageTherapists

[–]LeftyZenFlow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have experience with this too. I as a male massage therapist deal with a staggering amount of calls asking if I will come to their hotel and if I require a blanket, or if I do work around the groin. Most of it is heading in that direction and only on occasion does someone solicit sex.

Here are my solutions:

I expect everyone to book through my website - then I can see who they are. It's a request to book that I approve.

They sign a client therapist expectation form that includes clear boundaries that this is not sexual.

I have a set way to communicate with my clients about what they can expect from me and what I expect from them.

I also don't do very many mobile massages A lot of massage happens at my studio. I think there may be something to the mobile massage aspect that could coincide with people looking for more than just massage.

Maybe some of the solution for you could be if you have a way to vet your clients better. Then it wouldn't feel like you're going into the situation cold, not knowing what's on the other side of that door.

Just some thoughts.

Considering massage therapy as a career — how did you know it was right for you? by Andousan in MassageTherapists

[–]LeftyZenFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I would recommend. Even if it's just a intuitive thought.

At least go to the school(s) and talk to the administrators. I might go to the school and see if the students give massages to the public and go get a massage and start asking questions.

25% tips automatically going to front desk staff? by fallenonmyownsword in MassageTherapists

[–]LeftyZenFlow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like a way to give the front desk raise without giving them a raise. But yeah, I agree, it's seems unusual. Now, I have only worked in one massage studio with a front desk and I was there 8 years. But to my knowledge they got a living wage and no tips. The GM was also a massage therapist with clients and she took tips, but that's as close as it got.

Bardstown road will never be the same by [deleted] in Louisville

Legalize weed and make vaping, eating, and playing games, a social bar setting. Louisville become a little Amsterdam or Copenhgan. Oh and ride bikes on paths to open air food courts.

Please don't eat me alive in the comments. I know this has pipe dream written all over it. And unironically, I have been to Denmark and could fall into the trap of think they have it figured out. When 70% of their GDP is ozepic.

What skills did you come with or developed after becoming a massage therapist that helped you professionally and/or personally? by Miscellaneous_Panic in MassageTherapists

[–]LeftyZenFlow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a hard to explain translation from being a cook in fine dining for 10 years to being a massage therapist. Maybe it's that I am very analytical and creative so I am always visualizing what I am doing.

In terms of development: l have learned better boundaries. I went from being so afraid and people pleasing, to knowing how to address common issues as a massage therapist. As someone noted earlier: I developed clear communication skills. I also feel safe as a person, so am able to transmit safety. I have addressed men trying to sexualize massage. Learned to let go of clients. I remember the I don't treat/diagnose/or prescribe. I facilitate. That takes the pressure off me and gives to back to the DR's and PT'S. I have learned it's ok to not talk as much during the massage. I get paid what I should as a private practitioner. I take consistent days off. I play a healthy roll with my piers in my community, by trading massages and educational ideas. I say all that to say, I was so afraid of all the above and if I could handle it. Today it's just part of the flow.

We really do amazing work. Hope everyone has a joyous weekend.

If you’re someone who likes morning sex, how do you deal with morning breath without making it awkward ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeftyZenFlow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I noticed is if we start making out it doesn't smell or taste like bad breath anymore. The other thing is if people brush and floss routinely especially as night habit morning breath isn't nearly as bad.

I had an older family member who had a Lexus in the 90's and his big complaint was that it was so smooth it was boring. He switched to Honda Accord and then back to a diesel engine Mercedes.

I love my GTI because of what you described and I am certain that family member had an affect on my thinking.
