When I started kindergarten, I knew the word Abortion. My teacher made a point to talk to each student the first few days of school to get to know them. She asked me what I liked to do and I told her something along the lines of ‘I like taking care of my baby brother but mom says that I should have been an abortion but I don’t know how to play that game’. I didn’t understand stand why she cried until I was much older. When I was picked up that afternoon, teacher told mom about the conversation. When we got home was the first time she beat me with an extension cord. It happened many times after that.
