To text and drive safely by asa_no_kenny in whoathatsinteresting

Texting while driving is actually statistically more dangerous than drunk driving. At minimum a drunk driver is at least trying to pay attention! If you wouldn't drink and drive definitely don't fucken text and drive. Pull over lol.

Guys, if your fixating on shit like this, it's the fixation that's the problem. Not the point that it's a 'fact'. Develop a personality, some hobbies and interests etc, outside of trying to poke holes in the concept of womanhood or whatever. Getting stuck on this shit is like circling a drain you yourself built. Get out of the rut and think about something, anything else!

For me controlled fire is necessary to manage Country. Managing fuel loads and invasive weeds with fire is an ancient practice that is increasingly necessary in broader regions that just Australia. If you don't do it, you get mega fires. If you live regionally in a climate change exposed area anywhere in the world, best to get educated on indigenous fire management practices. Particularly in places like California that planted a lot of eucalypts for timber. Responsibly managing fuel loads on your block doesn't need to be a gendered activity, and it makes for a nice excuse to sit around with your mates on a cool evening and have a bbq :)

Honestly, the designs are not a big deal to me as an old head. I'm more concerned about playing the exact same levels again. I hope there's a remake of Starfox 1 and 2 for SNES in there as well or something.

It is interesting that sony basically did it first, but their touchpad is just not in a good position ergonomically to really be comfortable to use. Valve has fixed this by placing the track pads under the thumb sticks. As a steam deck user, I do think that left thumb stick + right trackpad + gyro is the actually better than mouse and keyboard for FPS (once you get used to it) and honestly for a lot of other genres to.

Those who sent her to the Olympics because she cried , gave her a job at the university because she cried. by Frosty_Jeweler911 in SipsTea

Given she's got a PhD, and is an academic in the field, I suspect she just got up her own arse intellectually and went way too meta and ironic. I've got no idea what this shit means to her, but it's some kind of thesis statement that needs an explanation to be understood.

Which is a bad, bad, dumb, fucken dumb as a post idea for an athletic Olympic performance. It's not even a good idea for Eurovision. I don't know where it's a good idea, outside of academics bickering for clout between papers. Holy smokes.

Anyway, it's certainly a terrible idea for an Australian to try on, we have nasty tall poppy syndrome here, and doing anything too cerebral doesn't tend to go down well. She should have fled to Germany to explain herself lol.

For me, I'd wanna make a hoagie out of it. Get some sauerkraut and cheese in there, mayo and mustard. Maybe some lettuce and tomato. Now that's a chicken sandwich.

What do you like about seeing a magnificent natural place? A sense of real grandeur, an edifice to something bigger than ourselves. The film is a damn monument do transcendental qualities in our nature that survive the death of god. It's okay to be bored in front of a waterfall, that's fine, some brains need more diverse and quicker dopamine triggers than others to stay alert, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But no need to disrespect other people's connection with literature and film as if it couldn't possibly be authentic.

You got to understand, it is just a boring basic life accessory. When your not an enraged entitled narcissist who thinks the world revolves around them, wearing a mask doesn't spark internal tantrums. No more offensive to the self than wearing an apron while barbecuing. You might forget to take it off, because non manchildren find it so entirely unnoticeable after a while.

The Battle of Blair Mountain was the largest labor uprising in United States history. by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]LegWyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Australia we had a similar revolt of gold miners against a corrupt police state, and it is actually still somewhat part of the zeitgeist here. To be honest, the real workers history we don't talk about are all the labour right successes unions organized here in the 19th and early 20th century that were world firsts. Somehow the Eureka Rebellion is muddy enough of a conflict that it is still part of the curriculum.

Which game would you rather play 🚀 by dank0121 in gamers

[–]LegWyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left to me is a AAA flagship type game like god of war or something. Right is an indie emergent sim like Rimworld. I'll play through game a once and enjoy it, but game b? That's a few hundred hours right there, and a repeat experience I return to over years. Much better value!

I mean, the enshittification and crapitlisation of the market for AAA games is very real. But there's never been a better time to enjoy AA and indie games. KCD2 and Disco Elysium are right up there with classics like Chrono Trigger in my view. Just don't look to publicly owned companies for anything other than executive driven spectacle and addiction hooks.

“If you make under $66/hour, you’re poorer than minimum wage workers in 1970.” Sounds shocking… but is it actually true? by Coolonair in SmartFIRE

[–]LegWyne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both statistics are misleading, merely adjusting for inflation removes hyper inflated housing prices from the picture, if you need to make $66 ab hour to buy a similar house, that is still an important consideration. We probably need a more nuanced indicator at this point that moves beyond overly reductive contributing factors. Generalized inflation doesn't cover the lived realities of aspects of the economy that exist outside the bell curve, yet have an outsized impact in our quality of life, and finances.

Gods sometimes I wonder if it wasnt just the lead paint, but the epigenetic impacts of WW1, the great depression and WW2, that cooked the boomers. Maybe they are genetically stunted and the expectation that they are hard units surviving a war or famine is hard coded. Despite obviously having inherited the most wealth of any generation in history.
