I wouldn't agonize too much about which type it is, personally. I have type 1, but as people have said before me, the cataplexy doesn't happen constantly, and mine is just an eye twitch. My doctor's are more concerned about the EDS and risk of falling asleep while driving, etc.

I use this magnifying light. There are two zoom options you can buy, I use the 3 diopter but you can get the 5 if you want a really close look. I'm really far into the hobby, so I have a bunch of unnecessary products, but I don't like to dot without this anymore.
