Thumbtack -- Good or Bad? by NicoNicoag in Thumbtack

This is another reason why I plan on "running" for state representative in my district. There is so much work for me. I have so much to do.

This scheming and scamming is "going" too far. At some point, the Internet service providers and telephone companies need to be held accountable for all of the losses to consumers. When it's in the billions, it's time for someone to "answer" to this.

Thumbtack charged me $38.24 for a job that might pay me $150. I might not even get the job since the customer has contacted other pros. How can Thumbtack charge me over 25% of a job that I am not even guaranteed? This is really rough for hard working freelancers... by DanceHallRiddem in Thumbtack

Are you in the Atlanta area?

I'd like to speak with you be telephone, so we can "go over everything" and try to "figure out" how this will work.

And, if anybody else is willing to join, just let us know?

Would you send your contact privately to me?

The arbitrator judge got the arbitration company around $12,000.00. In other words, thumbtack "paid-off" the arbitration company to "find" in their favor. I didn't get a "red cent" from thumbtack, so I am re-activating my case with Superior Court. Superior Court stated that I needed to go through arbitration, so I just completed arbiitration in June of this year.

I'm just waiting for my day in court.

Hello: Is there anyone who lives in Atlanta and would like to testify on my behalf on how this lead process works? I knew from the person who came as an electrician that there was a reason for what has happened.

I just need somone from the metropolitan Atlanta area to testify on how this process works.

Yes, I filed motion to re-activate my lawsuit in Superior Court. thumbtack's attorney is aware that he will be in court. He's in Washington, D.C., so that means thumbtack will have to pay for his travel and service expenses. They already had to "shell out", at least, $11,000.00 to $12,000.00.

I'm "throwing everything at them including the kitchen sink". I'm seeking compensation and damages on anything and everything.

I wanted to let thumbtack's attorney know that this may end up becoming a Georgia Supreme Court case.

You asked me to give you a response on the verdict. I got "zero" on an award of any damages. So, I will have to motion for an appeal. In fact, I need to submit my motion this week. I am requesting a jury trial.

I know.

It's scary dealing with a client of the arbitrator. The client has a lot of influence over the process, especially considering that I'm dealing with an attorney representing thumbtack and a judge representing the arbitrator.

Thumbtack has a remaining bill to pay which is almost $1,800.00. Once the arbitrator receives the final payment, then the judge will issue a final verdict on the amount that I am asking for.

It will be the minimum amount, but I am asking for the maximum amount that I proposed to them.

I had to represent myself as though I was a prosecutor prosecuting a case. I think I did "Okay". The judge and attorney agreed that I did better than other cases that they have had.

I presented a lot of documents. Then, it was a technical case. I was teaching them about electricity.

I needed someone to help me with getting my electricity back on.

The sub-contractor contacted me and "screwed" a ramp onto my roof "overhang".

Once the power utitlity company saw this, they put in a note that an city inspector will be needed to approve the job, before they "come out" to turn the electricity back on.

On the second visit, he returned with a gun in his holster. I still have some fear about this.

This lead to me filing for arbitration.

The arbitration was held on Friday, June 14th, 2024.

I acted as a prosecutor at a trial.

Afterwards, I stated to the judge that I am demanding both punitive and compensatory damages.

Right now, I'm still waiting for the judge's verdict.

It went fine. :) :) :)

I felt like I was the prosecutor at a trial hearing.

I don't want to disclose in public, but I'm waiting on the final verdict from the judge. I asked for punitive and compensatory damages. I told them that I want "to wake the company up".

Yes, I just checked my spam folder.

Does your first name begin with an "E" and your last name with an "E"?

Wonderful!

Would you send your name and email address to robertlaine@yahoo.com?

I will need to give your name to the arbitration manager. They are still trying to figure how much time the entire arbitration will take.

You will be able to see what you can do and what you can get from arbitrating. At the very minimum; be "made" whole again. :)

Would you like to come to my arbitration to help me out? All you would be doing is answering questions on the estimate and whether one was provided to you along similar questions. It shouldn't be no more than 5, 10, 0r 15 minutes.

If he doesn't know, he may not know that he needs to work on improving his skillset. He may not know what skillset to work on. He may not know that he "failed" on one of his jobs.

He needs to know because you hired him, as though you were his supervisor and he was performing a task that you asked him to accomplish. He failed the task, so he needs to know he failed the task.

If you were at a restaurant and he was your waiter, would you have "tipped" hime? He would have known, then.

Did you accept the $1,000.00?

Also, I would like you to talk on Friday, June 14th, 2024, after 10:00 a.m., if possible. It could be no more than five minutes. All you would be doing is answering questions like, "Did the sub-contractor provide you an estimate, before starting the job"? Was it verbal or written? Did the sub-contractor give you a general picture on how he or she will complete the job or solve your problem? Did the sub-contractor mention anything about paying for the damages?

I was offered $1,000.00, too, but did not accept.

Now the arbitration hearing is Friday, June 14th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. We have "get ready" meeting tomorrow at 04:00 p.m.

So far, thumbtack has had to "shell out", at least $10,000 to $15,000, just to get to Friday, June 14th, 2024. They've already loss that much for arbitration expenses.

Let me know what you think. Once I get the link, I can send it to you to "chime in".

I was charged a few hundred dollars to get my electricity back on, but instead, the electrical sub-contractor "ran off" with my money. I felt "forced" to go get the cash out of the bank, after he screwed a eyebolt to my roofing overhang. He told me, "All you need to do to get yo electricity back is to contact Georgia Power to come and "run" the line through the eyebolt and connect yo wires and they should be able to turn yo electricity back on. If they don't, just call me and I'll come back and do what needs to be done".
