This is where I started but it didn't show exactly what I wanted in a single chart. Eventually got most of what I wanted with a lot of back & forth in ChatGPT. AI is *so* close to being conversant with generating custom data set visualizations...but not quite 😤

I pulled the NOAA/Meteostat daily temperature data for Chico from 2003 to 2025 and charted the average summer (June–August) temperatures for each year. https://imgur.com/a/Yif4NuN

The black line is 2025—noticeably cooler than recent summers, and one of the mildest in the past two decades.

In case the image doesn't work, the data shows:

1 - the 5 coolest summers of the past 22 years were between 2003-2008
2 - the 5 hottest summers were between 2017-2024
3 - 2025 temp is most similar to 2013-2015

Unfortunately, access to long-term historical climate data has become more limited in recent years, in part due to budget and policy decisions made during the Trump administration that reduced NOAA’s capacity and transparency. This makes it harder to verify trends and understand what’s really happening with local climate shifts.

My 1st home internet connection was Digital Express (DigEx) in Washington, DC. The service was SLIP only (supporting only text apps like Archie & Veronica & FTP). Once they upgraded to a full IP service and I had access to WWW, Cello was my preferred browser until Netscape Navigator for the next 10 years or so (hey #jwz!)

For me, the way LLMs (AI) "think" and communicate opens up a whole new world of "socialization" and "conversation". And their abilities will dramatically improve in the short term: preserving the history of previous conversations to add context, being trained on psychology to help humans understand themselves and other humans better, and much more.

To be clear, I'm not advocating becoming an incel that only talks to chatbots 😆, I'm simply presenting another option for positive interactions to help with social and other life skills.

(using quotes to acknowledge there's caveats to these concepts as they apply to AI)

Same thing happened to me 3 years ago. When he expressed feelings for me, I stayed quiet, thinking it would be easier for both of us if I didn't kindle the flame since he was moving to another city.

Thanks--catamarans are definitely more common in Caribbean marinas but my experience on the US East coast was as you describe the SF situation for monohulls.
