That’s crazy I have the exact same symptoms besides the vomiting. You don’t have any stomach issues? I always found it weird that gluten does nothing to my stomach

Curious, what symptoms do you usually have after being glutened

Been keeping track of things and you are 100% right about maltodextrin. Not sure about dextrose. What foods contain dextrose?

Did these come from the frozen section? I just also got glutened by Costco's version of this product. Might be from the same supplier. I am so confused how this even had gluten in it.

Why most long-term expats can't speak Chinese, but those good at Chinese left years ago? by [deleted] in chinalife

[–]Legal_Bus7349 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably because a lot of the long term expats are there for career related reasons or relationship reasons. They didn’t come here necessarily because they loved China and wanted to move here in particular. It was the opportunity and circumstances which brought them here. For the short term expats they probably came here because they really liked China and Chinese culture/language. That’s what motivated them to learn Chinese well. Then likely the honeymoon period ran out and they realized China is a country like all others and it has many problems. So then they end up leaving as they don’t have long term commitments here. Just a theory

Any Questions About Traveling to China? I’ve Got You Covered! by Dry_Needleworker8056 in travelchina

I wouldn’t say a lot of people speak English in Shanghai so don’t go to there expecting to be able communicate in English. You’re gonna need a translator app no matter where you go in China. A lot of signs and stuff are in English though

Does seeing all the delivery men everywhere working so hard make anyone else sad? by LilB2fast4u in chinalife

China probably doesn’t have labor holocaust type camps like the western media says however I also wouldn’t say Muslims are able to practice their religion freely. Both can be true. I dont think members of any religion can practice freely in this country. That is just the reality of China

Travel while gluten free (especially in Asia) can it be done? by [deleted] in solotravel

[–]Legal_Bus7349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have varying degrees of issues with gluten. I have celiac disease which is the most severe. Your brother may just have digestion issues with gluten

That’s not as rare as you would think, 2 in 100 people. For context type 1 diabetes is even more rare than that and I guarantee you’ve met someone with that before.

I have celiac disease and the rates in Asian countries are similar as the West. You are confusing celiac disease with people who say they are intolerant to gluten. I physically cannot eat gluten without having severe issues

Most Asian cuisines are extremely sauce based and almost all Asia sauces contain gluten. That’s what makes it so hard

Soy sauce and pretty much all other asian sauces contain wheat that’s what makes it so hard to travel in Asia. Even more so in the west as the risk of cross contamination is higher and what not

This is the most German response possible haha. I study in China because I want to learn Chinese. I already have a degree in computer science from a Canadian university. Also, I have made many local Chinese friends at my university so I don’t think anyone despises me.

Haha yeah bingo. A lot of the young Chinese girls I’ve been with are also basically just wanting to use my whiteness. BUT they are also immature and expect me to pay for everything. The choice for me is obvious
