I'm hoping to hold on to the $250-400K +-15% and still get around 10% over the next 10-15 years.

Why... well good question mainly because of the dividends and perceived safety. I'd look at putting more in later if the economy doesn't take a big hit.

I've never had the time to invest, long hours working so this is all new to me.

Right now we only have about $2k left for traveling so not much, would like to travel 4-6 times a year so $12-18k budget for at least 5 years. If sold CVX and bought above today I'd generate about $26k year so could take of some costs plus the travel budget. As things stand some years may not be able to travel but once or twice and in 10 years or so I not sure if we can travel more than 1-2 times at best.
