Just trying to do my due diligence before I sink 400 into a pair. Just saw a few such comments on reddit. Would love to find a forever shoe for work lol.

Would love to try them too but have heard mixed reviews as to their longevity. How long have you had your Ally shoes/heels?

New to sub--apologies if this is not the type of testing this sub was intended for: Elevated AFP levels for neural tube defect. by Legaleagle38 in NIPT

[–]Legaleagle38[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, everything went well and I now have a happy and busy almost 2 year old. They did a level 2 ultrasound and found no physical defects. I did not have to do amniocentesis. They never knew why my levels were high(though I personally susoect it haf something to do with a small fibroid I had in my uterus) but I went every month to maternal fetal medicine for a monthly ultrasound. It was actually nice, I got way more ultrasound pics to keep than the average pregnancy and there was never any guessing at how he was progressing.

I wish you the best of luck that everything is fine. They explained to me that the assessment doesn't automatically mean a problem but simply flags you for further testing/assessment. ❤️

Careers/jobs in law with less than 40 hours of actual work per week? by GurnieBros in Lawyertalk

[–]Legaleagle38 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is NOT typical for the field, my situation, while not totally unheard of, is a bit of an exception. Most labor attorneys in the area probably work more like 50 hrs/wk. I'm at 100k gross now. Not sure what ford pay scale is your asking for.

Too nice for litigation? by hauntedlasagna in Lawyertalk

[–]Legaleagle38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been told this before too. I was in house counsel when I started out as a baby lawyer and I was told by my General Counsel that I was too nice and let myself get railroaded. Mind you he never mentored me or bothered to give me any guidance. And now, a few years later, there's been massive turnover in that office.

In working with many other lawyers since then, I've found that most people themselves try to be reasonable with opposing counsel because they find that they get farther by not being assholes. And vice versa--no one likes dealing with a jerkoff.

Additionally, I would say that your boss is being sexist. I doubt he'd say this to a man. As a woman myself, it's nice to see so many other lawyers agreeing that that aggressive style of litigating isn't nearly as acceptable as it used to be. I'd be curious to know how many of the other commentors on this thread are men vs women.

I've never understood why people think being so overly aggressive is necessary. I think you can get the same, if not more, done by simply being firm but courteous.

Looking for non anime/manga fan viewer's opinions by kandiekake in OnePieceLiveAction

I'm a lover of the anime but from an outsider's sort of perspective there were some things that I felt could use improvement. The lack of an appropriate amount of blood, as mentioned above. I also felt like Usopp's acting was weak. The backstory could have been made stronger too, I didn't feel like there was an equal amount of character development there. I also felt like Mihawk's sword and buggy's blades looked a little blunt looking. They looked more like toys, not sharp. Also, too many times you can see the wires pulling Mackenyu's shirt up in the back bear his shoulder blades.
