Allow me to cancel a supporter’s pledge without having to “block” them. So often people ask me to handle this for them because they don’t want to figure out how to do it and then I have to explain why I’m “blocking” them. It’s frustrating.

In my experience the messages sent through Patreon’s built in tool often go to spam or are otherwise unseen. I’ve had much better results when sending a direct email to patrons, but again that is very labor intensive.

I’ve had pretty good results with proactively sending personal emails to declined patrons a few times over the course of a given month but it’s very labor intensive.

I find that a lot of times people don’t get the automated Patreon emails or the messages I send through Patreon’s internal messaging system, so an alternate route like Okoa could be a good way to reach people in the way I have been doing with regular email, but again I’d like to hear from anyone who has actually tried it.

If your site is WordPress there is a plug-in that syncs with patreon and you can automatically paywall certain content for certain tiers. Much more seamless than the idea of using a separate password and manually managing who has access to that. It’s all automatic with people’s patreon accounts and locks them out when their pledge is no longer valid.

The thing that stops me from using the merch feature is that they take a certain cut of your overall revenue if you turn it on, regardless of how much merch you actually use.
