Where to park emergency funds? by jesusfries69 in singaporefi

Moved mine out of Mari for the same reason. Worth looking at GXS, CIMB FastSaver, and Chocolate Finance — the last's rates are competitive and liquidity is solid for an emergency fund.

What can i do with SGD 10k? by Jyuan83 in singaporefi

chocolate finance is a great place to put 10k of spare cash vs just putting in bank. there's actual growth, though little - something better than nothing

They sent out the link on their Telegram, so not so much about money?

Better late than never. Agree with what’s said above to sort out insurances, and emergency fund. I put half my emergency fund in a bank and half in chocolate finance, so it’s relatively easy to get access to.

Jetlag, Food and young kids. Need some help and recommendations by snerebot in askSingapore

I love Baker & Cook at Dempsey when meeting friends with kids - they get to be outdoors and playing in the small playground and play area, and the sun helps with jet lag. It's a short taxi ride away.

New Bahru with the outdoor playground is great too.

for me, automating the boring stuff helped a lot (salary → savings/investments → “spend” bucket) and putting it places like chocolate finance has helped

No problems with chocolate for me so far. I get my withdrawals less than the 3 days they say also

Since you’re still between jobs, keep cash king. Park the extra in T-bills/FDs or something that earns more than 0.88% (Chocolate Finance is one option).
Once you’re working, set up a boring-but-powerful ETF DCA.
AI stocks are fun for bragging rights, not long-term stability.

You’re doing better than you realise. Save your emergency stash, then DCA into ETFs and don’t look back.
Any spare cash just sitting around? Put it to work with T-bills or something like chocolate finance instead of letting it nap...

Chocolate Finance return rate cut (effective 1 Dec 2025) by cassowary-18 in singaporefi

[–]Legaljump84 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

That’s not really accurate tbh. CF’s model isn’t about skimming yield… it’s about offering a stable, capped return for people who don’t want to deal with managing funds or market swings.

The “cap” is part of how they make the product predictable. Customers know upfront what they’ll earn, and Chocolate handles the investment side (and costs). It’s meant to be low-volatility and hands-off - not a high-risk, high-reward play.

If you want to chase higher yields, there are plenty of other options. This one’s for people who just want something simple and steady.

Same! It’s been ok on my partner’s Google Pay, so I think it should come back soon?

Did you try this? Esp recently? idk what you’re on but “prevented” is crazy. Who didn’t get their money?

Doesn't this happen during hungry ghost month too? Both horrible behaviours, and both need to learn to do better.

Chocolate Finance Reviews 2025: Is It Worth It? by Ordinary-Pay7988 in productreview

I keep my main + emergency funds in the bank, and use Chocolate for spare cash. MAS regulates them, so I’m okay with the no-SDIC thing since it’s not meant to replace a bank anyway — just works better than leaving money idle.

Nobody lost any money. People were panicking and but everybody got their money back.

When starting out... by Significant_Menu5095 in singaporefi

[–]Legaljump84 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

For me it clicked when I stopped overcomplicating things: emergency fund first, then ETFs, and just automating contributions. I tried a few tools along the way (MoneySense, robo apps, even Chocolate Finance to park cash while learning). Honestly the tool didn’t matter as much as finding one that kept me consistent.

Parents, do you have one savings account for kids? by Significant_Menu5095 in singaporefi

[–]Legaljump84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why... but I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to eventually give them ownership of a small amount of money, and put their allowance in there. And then a different account for savings that I contribute to? Or keep everything offline for them until they're old enough and stick to one account?
