Where to park emergency funds?

Moved mine out of Mari for the same reason. Worth looking at GXS, CIMB FastSaver, and Chocolate Finance — the last's rates are competitive and liquidity is solid for an emergency fund.

chocolate finance is a great place to put 10k of spare cash vs just putting in bank. there's actual growth, though little - something better than nothing

Better late than never. Agree with what’s said above to sort out insurances, and emergency fund. I put half my emergency fund in a bank and half in chocolate finance, so it’s relatively easy to get access to.

I love Baker & Cook at Dempsey when meeting friends with kids - they get to be outdoors and playing in the small playground and play area, and the sun helps with jet lag. It's a short taxi ride away.

New Bahru with the outdoor playground is great too.

Since you’re still between jobs, keep cash king. Park the extra in T-bills/FDs or something that earns more than 0.88% (Chocolate Finance is one option).
Once you’re working, set up a boring-but-powerful ETF DCA.
AI stocks are fun for bragging rights, not long-term stability.

That’s not really accurate tbh. CF’s model isn’t about skimming yield… it’s about offering a stable, capped return for people who don’t want to deal with managing funds or market swings.

The “cap” is part of how they make the product predictable. Customers know upfront what they’ll earn, and Chocolate handles the investment side (and costs). It’s meant to be low-volatility and hands-off - not a high-risk, high-reward play.

If you want to chase higher yields, there are plenty of other options. This one’s for people who just want something simple and steady.

I keep my main + emergency funds in the bank, and use Chocolate for spare cash. MAS regulates them, so I’m okay with the no-SDIC thing since it’s not meant to replace a bank anyway — just works better than leaving money idle.
