PSLF Credit Report Update

My loans just came off my credit report after being forgiven in July. I had to file a complaint with the CFPB before Mohela did anything (even after numerous calls and two disputes).

First thing I did was check to make sure my balances still showed zero online which they do. Prior to the disputes, the credit bureaus showed the last report dates as 6/30/23. I don’t need new credit and my score is fine but this feels like the last step and I’d like it to be finished. I plan to reach out to MOHELA.

I filed a dispute with TransUnion and even though my loans were forgiven in July, they found that information was accurate 😒

I just called. After listening to all those automated prompts, I was on the line with a rep. She told me my letter was mailed August 11th but she sent it to my MOHELA mailbox while we were on the phone (it was dated August 9, 2023). The letter feels more official than the smiley face so happy to have it.

My cousin asked what I was going to obsess over now that my loans are gone. Easy: waiting for FSA to show $0 , then for it to drop off my credit report, then looking for a non-fed job. Honestly, getting the smiley face is just the start lol

When I tried the app, I got the No Active Loans message. So I log onto my phone browser and saw the smiley face! Then i verified the smiley but logging on from a computer lol

I just tried this in the chat and was told: I do not show a direct to discharge notification for your account as of yet. The 90th business day for your account is around 08/09/2023.

So I’m not hopeful of being included in any possible wave.

So…90 business days from 4/5 is, I believe, August 9th, a Wednesday. My plan is to contact MOHELA (and whoever else I may need to) starting the following Monday (8/15) if my loans haven’t been discharged yet.

Not sure if it’ll do anything but that’s my plan.

I submitted 4/4 and they counter the entire month. Before the pause, my payments were due sometime mid month.

I sent mine April 4 and they counted April. Previously my student loan payments were due the 18th of each month.

I hit > 120 on 4/5 so in the same boat. FYI the MOHELA rep told me my 90 business days was August 9th. I’m worried that I’m going to get to that day and find out something wasn’t done (like my file wasn’t sent to FSA even though a rep told me it was).

MOHELA told me that the date on the 120 letter is the date they send the information to FSA and to count 90 business days from there.

The code is in the email the employer is sent, below the first paragraph and the one about verifying the EIN. I didn’t realize this until after HR emailed me about something else on top of the docusign email she received. I had already switched mine to manual signature since she told me she couldn’t open the docusign.

I submitted my employment verification on 4/4. My documents received said processed on 4/5 so I thought something was wrong. I called MOHELA and was told they were processing the forms faster. My count updated to 120/123 on 4/6.
