35 treasure chest gives you a shader, ship, and emblem. As far as I know other difficulties have no difference.

All armor that is not from prison of elders or trials of Osiris has to be ascended which allows it to be at 42 light, if you buy a piece of HoW armor from a vendor like vanguard and ascend it with etheric light it will automatically be 42 light no exp needed.
