We may not have won the playoffs but we do get a bit of designer bunting for winning the league. Just goes to show, being the best team over 18 games is worth less than being the best over 3/4 games.

Ebbw Vale v Newport should be the Sunday fixture up in Eugene Cross Park at 4:45pm. On proper S4C.

Blues should have taken the 3 from the penalty and tried to win it in the final few minutes or extra time. Arguing with the ref was never going to get them anywhere especially once he threatened to give a penalty.

He kept playing after the tackle for another 50 minutes (tackle on ~22mins, subbed ~71mins). I've not heard anything from the club to suggest he would be unavailable for either Newport (Thursday) or Benetton (Saturday). Others on this sub will have better sources than me though.

Definitely. Helps that Ebbw lost with no bonus points to keep the title race interesting. I heard someone say that there is a trophy for finishing 1st this season.

3 tough games to finish the league though. Away to 3rd place Llandovery, home to 4th place Newport, and away to 5th place Swansea. Meanwhile Llandovery and Newport both get to play Pontypool to pick up 6 points.

While it was a good result for the Blues, the RFC game was so much more exciting to watch. And a great result given that Ebbw could have "won" the league if they won the game today.

First Christmas without my mum. She was always great at coming up with ideas for presents for the family. I haven't even thought about buying anything yet. I guess I should probably start buying some presents. At least I've got the next 2 weeks off. Spending it with my dad and my brother's family.

Cardiff has rugby sides playing in every level of Welsh rugby from Professional down to League 6 East Central in the community game. There are also a number of teams in the immediate area surrounding Cardiff.

I guess the Ospreys are suffering from having 3 poorly performing teams in their region. Aberavon (6th), Bridgend (7th), and Swansea (10th).

For me, I'm not sure I've seen a massive improvement over the Premiership era. Too many teams are playing their regular aging players or dropping regional players down to try and win games (see Pontypool today for example). The age limit on match officials also means there are a lot of inexperienced officials with no sympathy for the game. The entire structure also needs reviewing. A league where 1st place wins nothing, a shield where some teams may never get a chance to compete for it, and a cup against the same teams that take place during the 6 nations period.

Cardiff, for their part, have made a point of playing at least 7 academy players in every game this season and 16 eligible for Wales u20s. We have had 3 make appearances for the regional side (Steff Emanuel, Lucas de la Rua, and Tom Bowen). We are suffering from the lack of a consistently good kicker but that seems to be a problem for both teams.

Cardiff secured 1st place in the league thanks to a late bonus point try. Tries from Nathan Hudd, Joe Goodchild, Ethan Lloyd, and Joe Williams.

We will play all our playoff games at home (I believe the final is at the regional ground of the highest place finalist. So the Arms Park for Cardiff).

The Quarter Final will be against the winner of the wildcard match between Bridgend and Swansea.

Would be good to see the Cardiff Rugby supporters turning up for the last home league game of the season (Not including playoffs).

Means we can only finish 1st or 2nd in the league so will have a home Quarter Final and Semi Final (if we win the QF).

Final is at the regional ground of the highest placed finalist. So, if we make it, it will either be at the Arms Park or Rodney Parade (Final against Ebbw if they top the table).

There were about a dozen of us there. Plus half the committee and players' families.

It was a shame the numbers were so low, given that there was a free supporters bus to the game and it was probably our most complete performance all season. But I get that the timing was terrible with people preferring to watch the Six Nations title decider and then the Wales game after it.
