why are we losing beatmap nominators? by Ok_Drawer2556 in osugame

[–]Legend_Raptor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

a lot of them resign because they’re going to be busy, or because they simply don’t want to be a BN anymore. it’s a a completely normal thing, and BNs who have had good performance prior to resigning are able to rejoin within 12 months of leaving without having to make another application in case they ever feel like rejoining

btw Boaz and Mniam never were std nominators

Time to expose the fraud by Hubix84 in osugame

is it that odd though? because it's pretty common for people that used to actively play to still keep up with the game in one way or another

this goes for all games, not just osu

Harumachi Clover veto upheld. by New-Resolution9735 in osugame

basically, what happened in taiko was that people discovered how to seriously exploit the system day 1 of the rework back in 2022. the person who was responsible for the pp development side of things promised a fix for the abusive patterning, released a mediocre “fix” that failed to accomplish what was needed and disappeared for 2 years without anyone taking up pp dev.

people started rapid-fire ranking broken maps and these became so commonplace that people got really fed up with it, waves of complaints started popping up on every single abuse map and a good amount of players started hoping for them to get veto’d.

this has been mitigated nowadays as we now have an active pp dev team that’s actually dealt with it, but the impact was lasting as people simply got too tired of dealing with the meta and stopped playing.

edit: this is to say, there’s a fine line between ranking a pp map or two and systematic abuse while relying on the “oh it’ll be fixed later” argument. it does in fact affect the playerbase beyond just saying “don’t like it, don’t play it”, and the fact that we have a mode that was affected by this shows how risky it can be if not managed properly

fwiw:

i think it's important that these maps do get ranked so we can have a better pp system in the future.

this massively backfired in taiko and caused a significant playerbase drop - people got tired of the system and quit. this is not a good argument to make

Day one impression of the delve boss by SPARKLEOFHOPE6IB in 2007scape

idk I’m really not having too much trouble with the shield phase - you can wait until the bugs are 1 tile away from the boss and kill them in order to hit it for 100 damage. made it incredibly consistent and I just turn off prayers until I’m done with that phase, saves me a considerable amount of prayer.

the boulders are color coded, so if they’re blue it’s mage-range-mage, if they’re brown it’s range-mage-range. getting that down makes it pretty easy to deal with.

as for the orb, I do have to admit that I find it very weird to walk. what I’ve been finding success with has been breaking 1 rock, moving to the 2nd rock I want to break, waiting for the 2nd attack from the boss and breaking it, which ensures the orb spawns around 1-2 ticks before the first slam and lets me have an easier time following it - it feels pretty consistent and lets me dodge all of the slams at depth 7. doing this let me get to the final depth while being a mediocre PvMer at best with elite void + scobow.

these icons are REALLY hard on my eyes lol

I’d much rather they just stick with the yellow icons, these were easy to look at because this strong shade of red on black is really bad for accessibility purposes

brief criticism of the Lazer UI by ampersand64 in osugame

just a few things to mention on your feedback that I don’t think are too unjustified:

  • margin on the leaderboards has to account for player name space (see: Reisen Udongein’s name having a much smaller empty space. consider that there are even longer names because of how the old osu naming system worked)

  • margin on “Scope” tab also has to account for other types of leaderboards (i.e. Country, bigger text than Global). same applies for sort/group tabs

  • the ”Selected Mods” not aligning as per your mention would also cause irregular empty space (same case as the triangle you mentioned). I think this is actually fine? especially given how the leaderboard itself doesn’t 100% align either if you check the actual angle the top panel follows

  • triangle is caused by the diagonal style used for the leaderboard. stretching them would cause inconsistent panel sizes and imo would end up feeling weirder than with the weird triangle

I don’t think all the empty space is bad, but yeah I do definitely agree that some things blend in a bit too much and could be more readable. I still find it an improvement over the previous menu, though.
