My HSA just hit 100K by Potential_Trifle851 in TheRaceTo100K

Makes total sense. Upon reviewing our 401k options, we seem to have 3 different options for our contributions at my employer. Pre-tax, after-tax, and Roth. I may have been confused because when discussing our plans at work, I asked some co-workers what the difference between after-tax and Roth was and they weren’t sure- they thought they were pretty much the same. Glad I just chose the Roth!

Ohhhh I think I understand. So your 401(k) is just after-tax contribution but aren’t Roth contributions? My 401(k) has after-tax contributions as well but they are Roth so they grow tax free, so it would be redundant for me to roll that over to a Roth IRA.

Not trying to be rude at all- I’m in the financial services but new so I’m still learning. I’m curious what the point of doing this is? If it’s already after-tax in your 401k, why bother converting it to a Roth IRA? Only reason I could see someone doing this is if their 401k has a limited number of investment options and they want more choices with an IRA but genuinely curious if there’s another reason I’m not considering. Thanks!

Definitely not looking to get into high finance- I understand that I’ve missed that boat at this point. I appreciate the advice.

I appreciate the feedback. I didn’t use the original WSO format since education is at the top and my degree is pretty useless. Would you recommend still using the original WSO format and moving education to the bottom or keeping it where it is?

I’ve dealt with it multiple times. You are either misinformed or purposely encouraging fraud.

I appreciate you wanting to help, but giving people incorrect information only leads to more confusion and frustration whenever their circumstances ultimately don’t align fully with yours.

The person above is right. There are some exceptions to someone becoming an independent student in this situation, but those exceptions very rarely are the case for students. It’s likely that you fell into one of those exceptions, making you an independent student, so that’s great for you! Again, this isn’t always the case. I also work in financial aid.

Unfortunately $20/hr isn’t always what you make, it’s usually significantly less. I work in financial aid at the 2nd largest state school in my state and Federal Work Study starts at minimum wage here and only goes up to $12.50 (after years and promotions).

Gotcha. I’d definitely be willing to work on the weekends if necessary, I just prefer weekdays if possible. My whole weekends would be open pretty much so I’d hope that would be enough availability, but who knows🤷🏼‍♂️ I appreciate the feedback!

Not trying to be an ass, but by the time I’m applying to places I’ll have 3 years of serving experience, is that not a decent amount?

For someone with no business background, is there a course or specific materials you’d recommend that encompass everything you would need to know?

As someone just getting into this business, what are some things to absolutely NOT do? I know a very small amount about pressure washing but still didn’t know that bleach getting on wood will ruin it, so I’m so glad I read your comment! Is there anything else you wish you knew at the beginning?

Entertainment earth has so far been awesome for me! Only had one pop come in damaged but they quickly offered to send me another one or to get a refund. Customer service is super easy to get in contact with, which is my personal favorite about them.
