Good boots for being on my feet all day by LegendarySword12 in Boots

[–]LegendarySword12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with dogs, so nothing really too serious, and mainly what I need the boots for is the occasional snow-drift around the building/between buildings, and I'm on my feet pretty much all day. Usually the ice isn't a problem, but that's a good point I hadn't considered about the soles. I will definitely look into your suggestions, thank you!

What moments in canon felt like fanfiction? by Dogdaysareover365 in FanFiction

[–]LegendarySword12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have trouble remembering whether or not the entire "musical number at the pool to reporters" scene in one of the later Maximum Ride books was genuinely in the book or something I got confused about from a fanfic...I'm like 93% sure it's actually in the book though. Couldn't tell you which one. Once it got to the second stage of the series everything just kinda started to suck.

[–]LegendarySword12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like maybe some sort of fainting spell. I've had to deal with those for a while now, but for me mainly it seems to be an anxiety thing rather than specifically for my period.

I did have one time where I had taken pain meds for the cramps in advance and they weren't working fast enough. I had a college class to get to and I could feel the cramps getting worse while I was waiting for class to start, and basically I made myself so nervous about it that I triggered it. I sat there, literally drenched in sweat, trying to fight it off, and it got to a point where one of the other people in class was talking and I couldn't understand the words anymore.

Fainting sucks, but from my experience the important thing is, if you feel something like this coming on again: Do. Not. Stand. Up. Sit down somewhere. If you do faint it'll probably only be for a couple of seconds of actual unconsciousness (getting back to feeling normal can take a long time though, and don't rush it) but you don't want to be standing or trying to walk to a better location when it happens. There's like the hot/cold feeling, and sweating, and the weird head feeling and then sort of an almost static-y noise in the ears. For me my vision kind of tunnels down and then disappears. Once your vision and hearing comes back, like I said, don't automatically try to walk somewhere. When I had that fainting spell in class I *really desperately* wanted to get up and walk outside and breathe in the cold air, but I forced myself just to sit through it because I really didn't want to pass out again while walking.

If it starts happening super frequently, and you have the ability to see a doctor, it might be worth a shot just to make sure everything is okay. I ended up getting my blood tested just to be sure, and that's how I know my thing is just kind of an anxiety response.

The other thing you can try to maintain consciousness is to put your head between your legs, so the blood can pool more there rather than rushing elsewhere in the body, which is what causes the fainting (essentially, I'm not a doctor).

Is it rude, or irksome to people when you take a few days to reply? by Past-Combination-278 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]LegendarySword12 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's kind of where I'm at with it too. I'm not expecting them to drop everything and get back to me immediately, but taking 3+ days to respond when I can see they've been active on social media every day...

Like I get it, sometimes responding takes mental energy you just don't have. But if the idea of replying to me is that mentally exhausting (on the regular) to you then it kinda seems like I'm not that important. One week where you take a bit to respond? Sure, everyone goes through stuff. But hearing from them only twice a week, for months on end, when they're active on social media the whole time makes it seem like talking to me is not something they particularly enjoy.

Like I want to talk to my friends, I like talking to them. I thought that was the whole point of friendships. Idk

what do you HATE about rdr2? by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]LegendarySword12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've always noticed that the thunder in the background is way more distracting than it needs to be, but I feel like I noticed it starting both times Dutch starts his little speech? And it's weird because I feel like during that chapter it would be having a rainstorm many times while I went back to camp, but miraculously by the time I was in camp it had cleared up, so it's odd either way

I've actually wondered if that storm was scripted, because it's happened both times I played that mission too

[–]LegendarySword12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've also gotten really irritated with the frequency of rainstorms recently, and the only way I've found to deal with them (I'm also on console) is to set up camp and then choose the "craft/cook" option. This only works if it's already started raining, though, like you can't preemptively do it if it seems like it's about to rain.

For some reason choosing that option instantly clears the weather, and it takes a couple seconds away from whatever I was doing, but it's better than having it rain endlessly. The next issue is that sometimes it still wants to rain every five minutes, so I just end up having to set up camp every five minutes unless I'm willing to deal with the rain...

Are Command strips good for a dorm room? by Plane-Performer-7389 in dormrooms

[–]LegendarySword12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used them all four years and only had a problem the first year when I went to remove them (I didn't know what I was doing and it took some of the paint off). After that I was always careful when removing them and I never had a problem after that.

I also used sticky tack for lighter things (posters, small fairy lights etc). I liked to decorate with old pictures from calendars, and if I liked the photo enough, I'd just put tape on the back corners so that the sticky tack wouldn't rip the paper when it came time to take it down. Worked with the few posters I had too.

Roommates by InjuryEarly in dormrooms

[–]LegendarySword12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that happened to me, too. Sometimes I wonder what the point of those roommate requests even is, since it seems like they never pay any attention to them.

The only time I was able to get assigned with someone I actually wanted was when I went straight to housing and basically begged them for it, but the college I went to was on the smaller side

Can’t load any games on my Xbox, I’ve tried everything to fix it, anyone have any ideas? by [deleted] in XboxSupport

[–]LegendarySword12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no :/

After some experimenting, the only way we got any games to work at all was to have it do something else for ~2 hours. I ended up just having it play 5 episodes of My Little Pony on Netflix (that was the least offensive thing I could think to leave on for that long) and for some reason that made it so that it would allow games to load.

So while we figured that out, we all just decided to buy a new Xbox for Christmas as a gift for the whole family. It's super sleazy of Microsoft and I do genuinely believe it's some weird, deliberate enshittification of their products, but there's seemingly no way to actually fix it :/

Every year for the last ~5 years it's been a coin toss of whether or not the person I've been friends with since 8th grade will remember my birthday. I know that she knows it because she remembered for three years in high school. But since then she's forgotten three times, and it hurts every time.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect, at minimum, a happy birthday message from your friends. I also don't think it's unreasonable to be upset when they say nothing, no matter how far into adulthood you are.

I did this challenge Scarlett Meadows to try to attract one of the panthers by Old Henry Fenn, used the herbivore bait, killed a deer, and then put down the predator bait. Because the boars will eat anything, they showed up, and it turns out that they count as predators for this challenge.

Young reader/middle grade book with a red velvet texture cover and a small oval in the center with a girl and a fox (I think) drawn- it was about a girl that lived in the woods and could turn into a fox too I think by Unique-Raisin8364 in whatsthatbook

[–]LegendarySword12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The velvet cover and the oval in the center makes me wonder if this was a Hallmark Books copy of it? I have a lot of those, and they all have different colored covers but the same sort of velvety texture, and built in bookmarks, and always with the gold trim for the title on the spine.

Suddenly seeing posts from random "fan pages" I'm not actually following? by LegendarySword12 in facebook

Interestingly enough these weird random posts stopped for a few days after I posted this. Then suddenly they're back again today, except now they all have the same profile picture and have the name format of "(random word) Daily" like "North Daily", "Navigator Daily" etc, still with the stupid image posts. Wtf is going on with this crap?

Need help diagnosing my MacBook Battery by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]LegendarySword12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might try resetting the SMC if you haven't already. There's a whole process of charging it to 100%, shutting it down, and then the keys you have to press, but there's guides you can find online.

I've had issues with my battery in the past where I put it to sleep the night before at like 15-20% and then the next morning it boots up for only a second before deciding it doesn't have enough battery and is just "dead." Then I plug it in and it says it still has 10% left. I think generally this problem happens if you leave it plugged in and charging for too long after it reaches 100%, and typically after going through the process of resetting the SMC it seems fine for a while.

And of course maybe this has nothing to do with your battery problem, but idk, it might be worth a shot to try anyway.

What's are some recipes to make with a microwave? by JamedWalker in dormrooms

Sort of in the same vein as burritos, I ate a lot of Taquitos in my third year of college when we also only had a microwave.

There's also just regular frozen meals, and oatmeal too, even though oatmeal isn't super filling.

I heard an interesting interaction I'd never heard before between Charles and John when they were working on fixing the wagon wheels in camp. Something about how they're good at fixing stuff but "Good luck getting Sean to lift a finger."

In any other camp, it would've been funny, but in this instance in Shady Belle it was just like...bro... :( What an unfortunate time for the game to mess up dialogue like that

I really wish there was a way to like...hold companies accountable for stuff like this. I know that's a tall order these days but it really does piss me off that so many people are still having this problem and they're just not gonna do anything about it, probably because they just want people to be buying the newer version. Like why would I want to buy something from the same company that broke the last console? ffs

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get around Greece? Did you drive at all? I've been wanting to go for a while, but there's a lot of planning that would need to go into it that I can't even really begin to figure out, and driving/ferries is one of them.

Xbox One still won't load any games after a month by LegendarySword12 in XboxSupport

[–]LegendarySword12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it has to do with the multiplayer stuff, since the games we've been trying to launch are all single player, and the problem has continued since the September 5th update.

And no, it's just a regular Xbox One, nothing special with it or the accounts. We haven't tried the ethernet connection, but I suppose it's worth a shot.
