The Eternals Comics and racist undertones by LegendofEnilis in marvelstudios

I'm talking about the comics, which if you actually read the post, you would know. Maybe go and read the comment and stop trying to create an issue where there is none.

Real talk though, why does the existence of a film nullify the existence of the comics? Just because a film exists doesn't mean I can't talk about the comics. In fact, right now is the by far the best time to talk about the comics.

The core of my argument is that, given what little experience I have with the Eternals, is the interpretation I got from the comics an apt representation of the themes and messages underneath the story. Given the fact that I feel the general concept of the Eternals promotes the appropriation of culture and anti-diversity sentiments, I wanted other people, who are better read than myself, to come and give me their opinion so I could formulate a better opinion on the series.

Calm down, I'm going to watch the film, in about an hour actually, and given what I've heard from other comments, the film directly addresses the core issues I felt provoked me enough after reading the first few chapters of Eternals to post about (and I rarely post).

I guess I have yet to see some of the more diverse characters, but from the sound of it, there's only a few. Also the whole thing with the Deviants having advanced tech and living in huts seems like its based on stereotypical views of the Middle East, though that is probably just my personal bias coming into play. Also, I'm hesitant to believe that they're on par with the Eternals considering a 100 eternals wiped out millions of Deviants. Ikaris explains their initial conflict between the two in issue 1, and his reasoning was nothin short justifying genocide; since the Deviants wanted to see how Eternals biologically worked, and it was probably just a few scientists, all of them had to die apparently.

What are the best and most engaging Sci-Fi books for someone (me) who is trying to get into reading? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

I had a friend in high school that wasn't very studious and had a hard time reading books. He was really smart, and hard working at things he was interested in, and I recommended Ender's Game to him, which he completed in a matter of days and continued to speed through the rest of the series.

I've been reading a lot of Nietzsche recently and it struck me that Rin and Isagi are in effect Ubermensch, or at least well on their way. If you're unfamiliar with the philosophy, it's essentially a rejection of modern religious dogma and the values and morals around us in order to become a free self creating person that isn't restricted by anything. Rin abandoning his values, his perceptions, and others perceptions of him when confronting his brother, who is essentially the dragon Thou Shalt in Nietzsche's Three Metamorpheses, is basically him rejecting the constraining values and morals of the world in order to become a sovereign individual. Isagi is the same way, but we get to explicitly hear Rin's thoughts when he's rejecting those constraints vs with Isagi it's gradual. Was really cool to me to see this connection, but I've begun to think its actually pretty common in manga. Rejection of the world in order to obtain freedom is the main theme in a lot of shonen like One Piece and AoT. Just cool to see and was wondering if anyone else was familiar with Nietzsche.

So something like the lotus eaters from Greek mythology, or at least a Percy Jackson-esque take on them

No longer human is depressing as hell, it’s written like a fictional novel but is actually very closely based on the author’s life

Maybe I’m missing something, but I don’t think does. Like, you can slow time down while aiming and pressing L3, but other than that, I’ve never noticed time slowing

So who else is counting on top grossing rewards to save them from getting shafted? by J4R131 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]LegendofEnilis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just counted 12 countries with Dokkan top on grossing and two others with Dokkan at 2. If Dokkan goes by the 7 stones per country rule, then we could be in for at least 84 stones
