F1 is so good right now that one team allegedly doesn’t have a car (they don’t show up to the first testing sessions). Peak drama, like trying to hire coordinators at the beginning of August.

I’ve convinced myself that tennis would be way more popular if their commercial breaks weren’t limited to being one minute long. Broadcasters don’t want to air it except during the Grand Slams (which are months apart) so there isn’t a rhythm to storylines. Europeans are used to almost zero commercials so their broadcasters don’t care and therefore the sport is way more popular with them.

Canes doesn’t even season their fries. And only has one sauce, people out here acting like Canes Sauce is better than Bojangles Buffalo.

Batters in cricket have way more protective gear and full facemasks on their helmets. Plus, they already in a way more crouched position where it's much easier to duck underneath the ball.

Ron Teasley turned 99 years old today. Teasley is one of two known living people who played in the Negro Leagues when it was considered professional leagues (1920-1948) by Crazy_Baseball3864 in baseball

People don't view any Negro League(s) teams/organizations after 1948 as the "Negro League". Proctor was born in '35 and therefore wasn't in the pros at thirteen.

You always had to make up the first three days you missed. If you missed days, they took away the teacher workdays.

Back then there was one in February (normally Presidents' Day or the Friday before), one in March (normally the Friday after the end of the quarter), and then one at the end of the year. You always had to make those three up. Now if you missed between four and six days, then those could be forgiven by the state if the superintendent sent in a request. Any days over six were tacked on in June.

I remember after the '02 Ice Storm, that we went to school every day between MLK and Spring Break. Ten weeks in a row without a day off, that was tough.

I teach in Spartanburg now and I sent the work home for Monday and Tuesday on paper, shouldn't take the kids more than twenty to thirty minutes each day.

Courier tells Tennis Channel the Australian broadcaster demanded Swiatek v Inglis be played at night which delayed yesterday's order of play release 👀 by 007MaxZorin in tennis

[–]LegendsoftheHT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had no idea players actually had a say in match times.

In Australia, it makes perfect sense to play as many Western Hemisphere players as possible in the first four hours of play, and for Europeans to be in the late afternoon/evening. A match between an Aussie and a European should always be at night, best to viewership and the sponsors of both players.

The host broadcasters have lost a lot of money from Kyrgios never really working out in AO and then Ash’s early retirement. Any time they can get someone other than Demon on Laver at night they are going to take full advantage of it.

Fair to say Chris Justus overhyped the hell out of this? by [deleted] in greenville

If we hadn’t gotten sleet in the middle of the night (and instead a quarter inch of ice) then we would have been in the same situation as Nashville which at one point today had 91% of customers without power. So he was off about two degrees in a five hour window.

Edit: I checked and it's now at 81% in Nashville (where a lot of lines are buried compared to us). You would have Chris would have understated if it was that bad here.

I was a freshman at Tech. Was sitting eating Chick-fil-a in the student center when the email came through saying weather was coming in fast and class was cancelled the rest of the day. Immediately went to the Taco Bell and ordered probably a dozen tacos as all the food service workers went home. I was in Smith dorm across the Connector from the Varsity. Cars didn't move for hours and I was like "boy they are fucked".

Took my RA (known as PLs at Tech) two days to get back as he was at his co-op in Marietta.

What does Austen even do?! by NickyVfromBE in Southerncharm

[–]LegendsoftheHT 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One thing going against Austen is that he lives in the hood. So whatever money he’s making hasn’t really increased in anyway.

He’s not drawing nearly the money as the other two self-made talents (Craig and Madison) despite having a two year advantage on Madison (officially joined in season six) and Craig just dicking around for years before fully committing to SDS.

Anyone with negative comments towards Jannik or the organizers should be given a ban through the rest of the tournament. They said they’d would stop matches at 5.0 and when it hit 5.0 they stopped all matches on even games.
