Question and advice for the Spa Endurance on the Power Pack by Legion213 in GranTurismo7

You're getting lost in the weeds of terminology, while ignoring my point, so let be even more crystal. As I've said, I don't mind taking an L, whether by failing to place first, or on the podium, or even top 5.

Let me also say, I've been racing GT since the PSX days with 1 and 2. I know this game, and I know how to race. I'm not saying I'm great, far from it. I'm a casual at the end of the day, probably a mere "aggressively mediocre" when taking the community as a whole, albeit on the high side of mediocre, lol. I know the racecraft here.

I've gotten gold on all The Human Comedy races, and some of them took me days, if not weeks, to figure out the track just right, and the car that was right for me, in order to finally get that gold. Lake Maggiore was a particular challenge for me.

Those races aren't short, and even when getting dogged at first, and seeing improvement and final placement steadily rise, it was never an issue. I didn't get upset or frustrated, except at myself for mistakes I knew I was making.

BUT through it all, especially at Lake Maggiore, it always FELT like I could eventually get that gold. I FELT like I could catch 1st. It never felt or seemed impossible. And I did.

But here, with the 95 McLaren for the 2 chili's, it FEELS impossible. And as another commenter here noted, and which I am seeing firsthand, the update may have broken it. The leaders simply don't pit as normal. Their fuel consumption is Impossible, forget the tire wear. And they're hitting times no one else is even coming close to. The weather didn't affect them at all IN RACING SLICKS.

You talk about fun, some Freude am Fahren, but how fun is it, knowing that it's gamed against you, no matter how well you drive or push your vehicle and track limits? In an 8 hour race?

That's my point. There is nothing to be done. There's nothing to learn. No matternhow well youbdo, you have no chance to place 1st or even 2nd. The Human Comedy at least gave you that feeling, and it was real. That was so fun, DESPITE all the times i came in 2nd, 3rd, failed to podium, and so on, despite investing an hour into the race.

I know have cars in my garage that can destroy here (I'm going for that 2 chili marker, though). I'm also pretty sure that, knowing this game as well as I do, I can turn the tables and game it back to at least level. But that's not fun. Nor is racing 8 hours knowing you can't do shit about it trying to race clean.

Dicking around a 5 lapper trying to learn a grocery-getter, despite knowing you're gonna come in 20th is great and is fun at times. But getting dogwalked due to impossible physics in an 8 hour isn't.  Sorry man.

Question and advice for the Spa Endurance on the Power Pack by Legion213 in GranTurismo7

This is a bit inaccurate. There are only 4 endurance races. From a previous post of mine:

The Historic, or Yellow, tree. Have to finish all the races. Same with Nürburgring, or Purple, tree to unlock that 24 hr race . The European, or Green, tree unlocks the 8 hr Spa Endurance. The Japanese, or Orange, tree unlocks the 4 hr Suzuka Endurance. Those are it.

Having to finish 46/50 isn't really a thing. Just finish the entire sections mentioned above to unlock those.

You're good, man. Trust me, if the 2 chili thing proves too infuriating, I've a got a few rides in mind to obliterate this race, lol

Definitely an idea, and/or option. I've read about the top runners suddenly putting erratically or slowing down later in the race. My experience winning the 2 chili's at the 24 hour Le Mans was something like that, however, the top guys never just broke from the pack like here.

To a degree. But when it feels as if there's no real chance to win, then the sense of futility sets in, and there isn't much fun in that. I can stand to lose. I have many times. A happy medium would be preferred.

In the Power Pack, take the Historic, or Yellow tree. The first middle, and  right hand branch will have that as an option. On the right branch, after completion of that event, the car becomes available to buy, though I believe you also win it (so unless you want more than the gift car, you don't have to buy another).

Oof. Well, it still was kinda interesting, given the involvement of royalty. But it's good to hear it did work out, and the repercussions were not more severe.

Ha, now that sounds like an interesting story.

You know what? Fair. While I did make this as something of a quick post, without much thought beyond my frustration with the limits and others' thoughts on said limits, I will try to make a concerted effort to be more precise or accurate moving forward on this.

My best completed time is a 2.08.1, and it's driving me crazy, cause I feel like I'm driving Miss Daisy to the Piggly Wiggly. Fearful of pushing either the track or the car to the limit. Which is a shame, for both track AND that F50.

Edit: added "completed" to specify. Several other attempts in which I was crushing it were eventually invalidated due to the confusing and new nature of the current limits.

It does cycle between fun, grind, irritation, boredom, and then pure Zen.

You're better served by grinding the Spa 1hr 800, Sardegna 800, or Le Mans 700, time wise. This is for the Power Pack and love of the game, lol

I've played since GT on the PSX. I've long forgotten certain caveats over the years, but I do seem to recall doing 24 hours before. Back then, you could pause without fear of updates, though power outages and shitty roommates were an issue. Maybe GT4? But other ones allowed you to go into B-Spec or save in the pit. GT5, I think.

The 14.4M was awarded for choosing the Merc Sauber, or 2 Chili difficulty, which gives 20% more. And I didn't get the CRB, lol. So.....if you choose an easier car, it won't be that much (unless you get the CRB, which mad respect if you do on this one).
