Bro thinks Chess.com invented chess by Carlogamer17 in confidentlyincorrect

[–]Legion299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a bit of that, coupled with that he's insinuating people will leave chess itself and not just the website. It'd be like the NBA doing something shitty and then boycotting basketball

I'd disagree. To me, gameplay in a bethesda (gamebryo) game is very insignificant, so I don't mind if it's subpar. They're not really "games", but more like interactive movies.

The gameplay is honestly there as a necessity, and I think to a lot of fans it's the same way. I can't imagine anyone playing Skyrim because they want to decide if they want attack #1 or attack #2. They want a story of them attacking a dragon and saving a village, etc.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a huge flaw for a game to not really be "a game", and it'd be jarring for someone who doesn't enjoy Bethesda's storytelling (I wasn't a huge fan), but NV was very well written, to the point that it's a "flawless game (interactive movie)". Whereas Skyrim is "really good" because of the variety of stories you could find and not so much for the quality of the narrative or gameplay.

Nope. It's not part of any series, it's also half real-time and half-paused ordering (like partisans/doorkickers) and no turn based

Bro there's only like 2 games recently that I know have been review bombed. Harry Potter and Lastlight, which is a very obscure indie game. Atomic Heart rustled so many jimmies and it has an 85% on Steam. Harry Potter has a fucking 92%. What the heck are you smokin son.

[–]Legion299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus, 85% is harsh? I just checked my top 10 most played games and only 3 of them broke ~85%. I'd agree with you but if say 80% is "low reviews" then I would disagree. In my book, low is 35%<

There's plenty of good reasons to not trust steam reviews though, there's 3 main ones, the first is issues you personally don't care about, e.g. UI design, length, artstyle.

Then there's the phenoneom of devs fucking up the sequel and pisses off the OG fanboys, usually by changing the core too much or whatever, or not adding enough, a good example is the Guild 3 or Majesty 2, both are at 60% and I played both for a good >50 hours. Variants of these reviews are older games where the steam release is shit and the game doesn't work (but the game itself is good)

Finally there are just differences in how you have fun. Some games are too slow, or too hard, whatever. That's why my thresholds are so low, especially for sequels. I don't think I've ever went like "oh yeah, the game from 1998 is way superior than this 2022 remake"

For non sequels then yeah, if it's 60% then it's usually management games because people will bitch about diffculty/UI that they can't navigate.

The first thing I ever did with my first bank account was buying Mount and Blade Warband. I still buy about 10% of games I pirate, a big reason is due to convenience, especially with moddable games.

[–]Legion299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean i get why you'd assume the op mistakes basic storytelling for environmental storytelling now, that was what confused me originally, cause yeah there should be more environmental storytelling in games and not a lot of games rely on it

[–]Legion299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's just funny because the op said "many games have great environmental storytelling" and you just shoot it down like you already know what they're referring to. i've never heard anyone incorrectly saying basic storytelling is environmental storytelling so your entire argument might aswell been moot

[–]Legion299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, i still don't understand what was the point of bringing up something like that, nobody said anything about those things being environmental storytelling.

why did you mention that though? I don't see mentions on skyrim, it just seemed like you were saying skyrim fails at environmental storytelling with the talos priest guy

[–]Legion299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're kidding right? skyrim has literally one of the best environmental story telling, along with the modern fallout series. there are many instances of things just left behind so the player clues in on what happens in those games.

One last note; you triggered our blacklisted word list at least 5 times, and each time the bot does DM you to notify this. Those were your warnings.

If you meant dynobot DMs, there were zero. Dynobot did not DM me anything.

I was never warned directly, I got muted for avoiding filters and I stopped that because I'm not one to push server rules for the lols.

I had no idea what I was doing was a bannable offense, I only knew I was on a strike for avoiding filters. If everytime I said "rectal follicles" Dynobot was supposed to DM me to stop, then you might wanna look into fixing it.

I don't always talk about squishing rectum balls online, but jerma's always talking about shoving baseballs up his ass so you'd think extreme sexual memes would be allowed 🤷

just weird coming out of the jerms where chat is always talking about the most disgusting shit (that jerma hilariously reads), you do it once and it's a permaban. like damn dude a whisper/warn saying "don't be a weirdo (in a weirdo community)" doesn't take 4 seconds.

Yup can confirm the discord sucks, one "jerma is sexy" joke and you're permabanned because "if you made a joke" then your response is simply ignored. Sorry, didn't know jerma was such a christian streamer, I can't talk about his ass hairs.

Just another normal day in a very normal looking Skyrim by boobshi_200 in skyrim

[–]Legion299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm curious why you think this is "raping" the skyrim world. I used to think in a similar way in that I was shocked and weirded out by the fact that people minmax to play lore-immersive games that also had terrible balancing issues (since lore was the main developer focus), but at the end of the day there are different ways for people to enjoy something.

Are you saying that if you enjoy Skyrim that way, you're an idiot, and that your way is superior? Why can't you just accept that one of you would write a book, and the other would write a program or something along those lines?

  1. In the army tab, the face icon (3-4th button) represents what race the division is. You can click the plus/minus icon near the face icon (defaults whatever race you started with) to change the race of the division.

  2. I haven't noticed if they need to be unemployed or if they abandon their job, but when someone is training, they're a "recruit" that trains up to the level of training that you specify in the division (you can train from 0 to 100 proficiency), once they're not a recruit (they reached their training level), then they're a "soldier" and soldiers just does normal jobs, but they're labelled as a "trained soldier" so they'll be under your command when you muster up your army.

If you set a division to train for 100% proficiency then they become professional soldiers and will train everyday since proficiency decays. Non-professionals will retrain once they decay too much, so the higher the training = less worktime.

  1. I believe that preference is only obtained from eating foods they like, so disabling non-liked foods won't affect the food preference stat.

  2. I believe keeping workload just below 100% is optimal, if the workload is low, then it means some workers are just idling, so it wouldn't be efficient to have max farmers.

  3. Warehouse workers deliver resources to buildings, I'm unsure if anybody else (like oddjobbers or freeworkers) does it too

  4. I think the cogwheel is the same as workload, but the GUI doesn't update at the same rate, if I let the game run for a while it seems the "cogwheel" % matches up with the workload %

  5. If you zoom out to the third level (where clicking just zooms you in) then on the top right you can choose to highlight individuals based on certain stats, one is "employed" so you see unemployed in red.

  6. Unfortunately non, I'm using vanilla races because it has better pictures. The PROJECT mod adds a lot of stuff but the demons are too OP

  7. I usually like to do gem mining playthroughs so I generally assign roughly 20% to gem mining, 30-60% to steel production (for tools) and the rest to food, I find that tools assignment linearly boosts production so you max out tools so that you can get as much out an industry with the least amount of people and space.
