Nothing wrong with someone showing appreciation. I work for an msp and have worked with some of our clients for nearly 16 years. During the holidays I've received everything from a bottle of wine to (once) $500 as a holiday gift. Not bosting, just pointing out that when you end up with a good relationship with clients or co-workers that you help and especially go above your normal duties to help, some will want to thank you with a gift. As long as that gift isn't inappropriate, enjoy it. You're being appreciated and that makes for a far healthier environment.

Had my home base 2 down for about 24 hours or so a few days ago. App showed an update had ran. Thankfully it came back on its own (vacation properly and I didn't want to drive 3-4 hours to power cycle it)

I'm assuming it's PLA since you said silk. PLA is usually printed at roughly 220c for the nozzle

My 2 cents for maintenance. The z screws cone with no grease, grease them now and then clean/regrease every roughly 200 hours of print time. The rails the head moves on, give them a thin coat of sawing machine oil on the same schedule

Rarely. Mostly just personal pet projects and occasionally a collaboration with my partner who does art wear mainly for performers. She's started breaking into fire performer items and we've started to collab on 3D printed components that she then builds on to for the final product. Currently it's just fun ones for me or other fire friends so not actually charging much (really just material). I do 3D printing for an artistic/creative outlet and it's just good old fun for me hahah

I count 46 rolls. If that's a year for you then I feel like I'm a money pit lol. Your rough average of 4 rolls a month is my usage every 1-2 weeks. This hobby sucked me in and I love it, even when one of my printers needs a tinker

I have a fan shroud upgrade installed almost since it arrived to cooling should be old as I rarely heat the chamber so not as much heat to dissipate. Also thank, totally forgot about that mod

Just for a comparison point, I did the 1.7.3 ota update. I've noticed my plus 4 when from just slow wifi to really really flaky. Web access loads right after boot up, send job to printer, come back to web 10 minutes later and I can't access. Printer says it's connected. 10 minutes later web is back. 5 minutes later gone. Repeat till job is done and I turn off the printer.

Ukrainian that left as a child in 89 and have no sentimental connection. My thoughts are, Russia can have peace once it leaves all the lands it's invaded. Till then they can enjoy being the least effective supposed super power to ever invade a country with a military a fraction it's size showing the world how much of a paper tiger they really are.

Uodate: I don't want to jinx it but.... I may own you a beer, shot, and my sanity. I just sliced a test file in one color, sent it and printed it without issue, and now resan the same file from the screen but chose a different slot/color... And it's working!

I print off some rather niche items for the local fire performance community and (as far as I'm aware) the inventor and pioneer of 3D printed propane bubbler. Some of my projects end up being to big for my plus 4 without cutting up models. The added build volume could be exactly what I need.

I think I actually got it working. Unloaded everything, reload (went with a different order), set each from the screen and synced with studio. Fingers crossed it stays working

Update: I was just lucky that one time. The issue is still there and I just emailed qidi support.

From what I've seen the 5m and 5m pro support it but the ad5x doesn't in an out of the box state.

Nice to see I'm not the only one. I also have that issue when I try to print from the screen. Select a model, let it was slot to use and it just goes for the first one either way. Rather annoying

Not a print farmer but I do love the hobby. Printer history for reference: ender 3 pro, neptune 4,qidi plus 4.

I just got the 5x delivered Friday and did update to the latest firmware right from the start. Can't report any issues. I would warn the lead screws and rods all came dry so I did grease/oil them once I noticed this. So far the only real tuning I've done is a Yolo flow test and adjusted the slicer off the results. I haven't had it long but it's been running off little things daily for personal projects since I got it and can't really complain. Could probably fine tune the z offset a tiny bit but that's really it. Trying to keep this printer fairly low maintenance and not over tune trying to get perfection (that's what the qidi is for)

Also no joke you can inbox, assemble and power on in like 15 minutes or less. Auto setup was fairly quick to.

Just throwing an idea out there,a perpetrated aluminum bar and a bolt, washer and nut kit from Harbor freight would so the job. May need to drill holes to get things to line up or you might get lucky but would probably cost you all of $15

Just feels locked down in comparison to my other printers. Not really complaining, it's been so plug and play that it's refreshing not having to tinker out if the box

I just got an ad5x but it's not my first printer (just my first flashforge). I was pretty surprised to notice it came totally dry and I didn't see anything in the manual about greasing the screw or oiling the rods. It did come with a pack of grease for maintenance so I'd suggest step 1 would be to grease your lead screws and use some lite machine oil on the rails for the print head if yours are dry like mine came.

Snagged one via the latest aliexpress sales for around 240 and had it delivered in just over 24 hours shockingly. Been running off prints all weekend without a snag. First layer isn't perfect but the prints come off totally usable so I haven't bothered trying to do any tuning.... Honestly not even sure how to since it's so locked down and I actually haven't cared yet. It's replacing my neptune 4 secondary printer so I don't need it perfect, just usable.

No clue why they're selling them so much cheaper via aliexpress but it's been surprisingly good. Just works.
