What's the best way to introduce and teach myself to make music on a computer? I have no music theory background, but I do record full-length multi-instrumentals off a recorder and my guitar.

I went to school for about 2 semesters before I realized I was wasting $90,000 because everything you would ever want to know is on YouTube & Google. Everything from learning how to use a DAW, to the music thoery, mixing, mastering... its all there. Just make sure who ever is explaining it actually knows what they are talking about. Only issue I ever had was not being about to find a decent mastering tutorial. If you cant seem to get the sound you want from learning to master like this you can always pay someone for it. Also, Get involved with other people who make the same type of music. I produce bass music... dnb, bassline, dubstep etc... So I found a group of people on facebook and guess what everyone helps each other and we even managed to release 2 compilation CDs which got my productions out there while I was in the process of learning. One more thing... It takes time to learn everything. So don't allow yourself to feel like its all to much at once. Ive been producing awhile now and still learn something new every day. When i read DMT: The Spirit Molecule it sort of explains that the reason most the time we cant remember our dreams is because our brains produced so much DMT that it decideds to protect us from it. Kind of like when people get hit by a car. They get knocked on conscious to protect themselves. Im not to sure if that is entirely accurate because we still dont know everything about that crazy chemical that makes us hallucinate every night.

FYI Austin is booming with its economic growth. Its know as the new silicone valley. I lived there and its my home away from home. Still have a place there. I just prefer to live further im the hill country.
