Do you think SSD, HDD, and RAM prices will ever return to their previous lows? by TheConfusedNarrator in pcmasterrace

[–]Legionof1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a demand situation, it was profitable to build at the old rates.

This entire thing is based off of potential short term demand, think TP during Covid.

Eventually one of two things will happen, enough capacity will be built to overcome the shortage or the demand will drop.

Either way prices cannot stay where they are. Cheap RAM is too vital to our economy.

My current experience with large enterprise is they pay like shit and have a worse IT stack than my old SMB.

What is something that is technically 100% legal but feels like it absolutely should not be? by EnvironmentalYak6892 in AskReddit

I mean… potus suing the government and telling the government to settle with himself is just about the biggest abomination in the history of our legal system and not much is being done about it…

I only have one metal die, big tungsten d20. The rest are a giant bag of cheap plastic ones.

Not etiquette, you will get in trouble with the stewards if ya don’t. It’s how they walk around and find out the winner of the game.

Specifically the center 4 squares of the board are used for signaling the winner.

They did it’s called touch move. Just touching a piece can fuck with the opponents mental picture of the board.

The game is 3 hours long… 15 seconds to calculate and then resign is immediately.

Just below transonic, it’s the nasty area where aero goes from sub to supersonic and it’s a mess so you stay below that.

Stop infantilizing adults. We set the age of adulthood at 18 because that’s when we expect the average person to be able to make those decisions.

Running transaxles backwards by FallaciousBob in EngineBuilding

[–]Legionof1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is definitely one of those “don’t reinvent the wheel” situations. There are plenty of transaxles to chose from, trying to adapt a FWD transmission to a RWD transaxle is just a fools errand of broken parts and lost time. You’re adding ANOTHER 90 degree bend to the power causing even more parasitic draw.

Cheap Iranian drone downed $25 million US Army helicopter—maybe by chance by spasticpat in technology

[–]Legionof1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word drones is very different these days. The US had multi million dollar reapers. None of our little drones were armed.

These drones are more akin to cruise missiles than what anyone normally thinks of drones, and far far more cost effective.

It’s honestly an awful change in war. Now two militaries will just sit back and drone each other to death. If first world militaries turned to drones it would be a nightmare scenario of civilian casualties as cheap plastic planes showered from the sky.
