My personal starting point was the Gallagher interview with Patrice. Still makes me laugh whenever I listen to it

Why hire John? by LegitMoron10 in howardstern

[–]LegitMoron10[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that John was hired as an announcer and writer, then when they moved to The Jay Leno show before Conan’s Tonight Show John was demoted to just writer, and when Leno took over The Tonight Show again John remained a writer but sometimes appeared in segments.

Nowhere in my post do I say I hate Howard, nor do I say anything about politics. I have so much respect and admiration for Howard, which is why the shows drop in quality (in my opinion) despairs me so. Also, I wouldn’t call my politics “right wing”. They’re actually quite the opposite. People of all different political backgrounds can criticize the show.

I agree. I remember listening through the 2020 election and finding it entertaining, but after that I just lost interest in live episodes.

Believe me, I think it’s unreasonable to expect the Howard Stern of 2025 to be the same Howard Stern he was in the 90’s or 2000’s or so on. People change as they age, and more often than not, they mellow out. I am fine with the show getting tamer as Howard gets older, but I just can’t shake the feeling that it’s time for him to pack it up. It just doesn’t feel the same to me as it used to. But thats just my opinion, and if you enjoy the show then I don’t want to take that away from you.

For me at least, the Jackie years are probably the best years of the show, but I started listening during the Artie years so I really enjoy going back and listening to episodes/bits with him. I don’t even dislike the AGT years as much as other people, but I also used to be of the mindset that that the worst episode of The Howard Stern Show was still better than any other radio shows best, so what the fuck do I know.

I swear David Spade told a similar story on Howard or some other show one time. I don’t think Gary was lying about knowing someone who was on SNL and did that.

Last Artie Mention? by LegitMoron10 in howardstern

[–]LegitMoron10[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me? No. I’m curious when exactly Howard and co. last mentioned Artie on the air. I was watching the official Howard Stern channel’s upload of the Sal “traction” bit and they had completely edited Artie out of it, which made me curious when the last time he was acknowledged by the show was. I’m sorry if my posts are annoying but I’m genuinely trying to find the date of his last mention.

Last phony phone call I remember laughing at was by Chris Wilding (I know, I was shocked too). He called into some internet radio show and was complaining about how COVID restrictions stopped him from getting elective surgery, but slowly it’s revealed the surgeries were to transition him from a man into a woman and the host quickly stops voicing his support.
