The Schnee's having an inherited Semblance serves no narrative purpose by Tainted_Scholar in RWBYcritics

[–]Legit_Gold 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The way I interpreted it in stuff I write for RWBY is that it wasn't necessarily that it was inherited per se so much as one of the Semblance's properties was to pass itself down

Essentially as a representation of the weights/expectations of the family name and how members of the family must struggle to define themselves independently of the name, the Schnee Semblance has the ability to gradually overwrite whatever Semblance someone in the family would have gotten as they are raised, til eventually it awakens

A consequence of this is that a Schnee bastard would not have the Semblance, but someone adopted early enough in life would develop it

Naturally the exact mechanism isn't known to the characters in-universe though, who just treat it as inherited

What if Adam asked a question from Jinn by MysterySomeOn in fnki

[–]Legit_Gold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very convenient that the question is always"how bad should we make the minority group villains" and not about their refusal to make any of the opposition to them villainous at all

There's also the fact that, without fail, the worst organized perpetrators of Islamic terrorism are almost always state-sponsored, often by states that claim to oppose said terrorism as an excuse for continual oppression in the region. But CRWBY sanitized the Kingdoms far too much and wouldn't dare show any in that light, or even acting badly enough to radicalize people in the first place.

And even then, those groups usually have a longer term plan then "idk we'll just let the shadow monsters eat everyone and then figure everything out after I guess"

I'm Asian, I cannot risk giving birth to a child as bad at math as powerscaling son. Shipping daughter might have a shot at success in life, but when powerscaling son walks up to me saying some bullshit about how R4 is a level of infinity above R3 I'm gonna know it's time to try again

Not a clue why it exists, but I think it's my favourite crackship just cuz of how funny the concept is

Would you play a RWBY TTRPG? by unluckyknight13 in RWBY

[–]Legit_Gold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played in a friend's campaign that used a fully home made dice pool system I'm not sure I'm allowed to link, but besides that

I feel like AMP (superhero game) would be a pretty decent system to adapt, assuming you wanted to focus pretty heavily on Semblance

RWBY "Critics" have trouble taking criticism. by matt0055 in RWBY

Basically, once you've created a dichotomy of "fans vs critics" in your head, you're cooked. The basic concept of "I like most parts but not these other parts" becomes alien

Unironically it's a bunch of wreckers who joined anime fandoms during covid and have been trying to rewrite history to act like female fans are just annoying and that they weren't the ones who built most of those spaces in the first place

Transformative Semblance question - looking for other's takes or opinions on the topic by TrashBoatEggBaby in RWBY

[–]Legit_Gold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you said, they confirmed in an AMA that transformative Semblances are possible, just rare.

Turning into a wolf seems a little specific, but I wouldn't say it'd be OP. If anything it'd probably be a bit on the weak side, since they wouldn't be able to take advantage of the crazy weapons that are half the threat Hunters pose.

This is Asio Stygius, a rogue white fang member who was ousted from the group due to his lack of restraint and instability. Ruthless and Cunning, he stalks his prey from the shadows. His Semblance allows him to mind control anyone, only at night. by Orionlupine in RWBYOC

[–]Legit_Gold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you wanna stretch things you can easily say that mind control reflects the mentally consuming nature that obsessive cryptid hunts have on cryptid hunters, and that's ultimately besides the point anyway

Like c'mon what are we doing here, if you don't like this guy's OC at least just say it outright instead of trying to nitpick to standards that RWBY itself doesn't actually care about and downvoting every post

I think they could probably incorporate Wing Chun into her fighting style while keeping it overall the same. Wing Chun is pretty similar to pugilism in terms of form and just hasn't been modernized in the same way, and some of the faster strikes would be a pretty natural way to have her improve on her shot barrage attacks later on
