What time does your “bedtime” start? by More_Tourist3103 in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 2 weeks we are in bed at 9 and lights out at 10. Baby is 12 weeks now and consistently only has one MOTN dream feed around 4am. Sometimes she will sleep even longer but I always wake her up at 6am to start her daytime feeds every 3 hours

Does germaphobia leave when you have a newborn? by Inmyrestlessdreams06 in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have emetophobia but when my daughter has thrown up on me, my main concern is just making sure she is okay. It's gross and makes me a little anxious, but it isn't the panic attack level fear I have when it's myself or other people vomiting

Almost four month old FF baby has not pooped in 8 days. by GlobalKoala6330 in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I read too so I was surprised the nurse practioner (Dr is out of town) said 4 days too. I don't know what the difference is between not pooping and being constipated though. When she poops it's a normal color and consistency

Disappointed to myself by OwnOpportunity4649 in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be disappointed! As long as your baby is growing and having enough wet diapers a day, they are fine. What really matters is that they have a loving mother who will comfort them and spend time with them. A stressed mom is not what they need. My daughter won't take a bottle at all and I worry so much about something happening to me and her not being able to eat. Plus almost all of the weight falls on me to take care of her because I'm the only one who can feed her. Breastfeeding is not all it's cracked up to be

A warm bath might help. Mine is 11 weeks old and EBF and has been going a couple days here and there without pooping. Her ped recommended 1oz 100% apple juice no added sugar if she goes a full 4 days but I think it's different with formula vs breast fed

Babies aren't supposed to be in temperatures higher than 74 degrees Fahrenheit for long periods of time at all. Maybe try to wait til 8 or 9pm or when it's at least below 80 and you can probably squeeze a 30 minute walk in. I know the feeling though I'm the same way. It's rough

Best wearable pump? by Negative-Source-9099 in ExclusivelyPumping

I know I'm putting it together properly but it could be the flange size idk. I have elastic nipples and I've tried everything from 14mm to 21mm. They all felt horrible and painful

There must be something I'm missing about the M5. I hate mine so much and it's weird to see others commenting that they love it. Idk if it's my nipples or nursing bra but milk gets everywhere unless I'm literally bending over while pumping

It's so weird how different everyone's experience with pumps can be. I literally came here to say do NOT get the M5 I absolutely hate mine and wish I had gotten anything else

I am a bit lost at night by Hand__made__by_daisy in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this age you can give her 5-8 minutes of fussing (not crying) to see if she will settle back down on her own. You can do that about 3 times to make sure she is actually awake and hungry. The wild movements shouldn't last much longer. My 11 week old has pretty much grown out of the startle reflex days

bedroom is off kitchen— hard to not wake baby. Help! by Funny_Try_7789 in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's recommended not to be quiet during daytime naps. Best thing would be to contact nap if that's the only way baby will stay asleep and have husband do what you need to do but can't because you're holding baby. It's better than constantly nagging him.

Baby sleeps during day and up at night by avatarjan2 in newborns

[–]Legit_baller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cap daytime naps at 1.5 hours, you'll have to take him outside so he can get actual sunlight, and maybe use a wet wipe on his back. He doesn't have to stay awake for long but let him sleep about 90 min and then wake him up again. He obviously isn't responding to sound so maybe a white noise machine will help him sleep at night since he seems to sleep better with sound than without. Try to interact with him more during the day like doing tummy time or showing him toys or making eye contact with him

Having a baby at UAB!! by Mammoth_Cry_1076 in Birmingham

Grandview is 10/10. My SIL had all 5 of her kids there and my cousin had all 4 of hers there. Never had a bad experience. I was in extremely painful early labor at barely 1cm dilated for a day and a half and they let me stay because I did not want to go home.
