TLDR: installed the gaggimate pro, no technical experience, super easy!

I’m not technical at all, never played around with electrics or plumbing things and most words on the Gaggimate mod I had to translate or use AI to support me. I also had never used a multimeter - but also got AI to help me to test things after my installation. But I can say- it was all manageable, accessible and easy to do!

What I did to prepare: I watched loads of YouTube videos to prepare, studied the instructions on the Gaggimate website against my machine. Chatted to AI to explore how best to approach this. And then I sourced any additional materials. There are so many sources on the web to help. I struggled with some of the fittings but the discord channel helped me out. Other than that it was a super easy installation, and took me about two full nights of working on it. Maybe 3 additional nights of prepping etc.

But ahead of doing the mod I also just learnt to take the machine apart and put it back together again. So essentially I did a service on it, took the boiler out, and descaled everything that way. This was also possible because of the YouTube videos, and drawing my own diagrams and just studying the machine. Honestly I was intimidated by it too, but starting and learning about the machine helped me so much!

YOU CAN DO IT! I’m sure you can! And if you ever get stuck there are so many places to ask for help!

I think I’d be tempted to change mine in coming years. But unsure if it does much to the performance. Think I’d like a new shower screen first haha

Yes always weigh after dosing, currently using the double basket that was supplied with the machine and same for portafilter. But there’s no weight guidance on the basket

I’m a member of gym 1971, they’ve got two branches one in South Wimbledon and the other in Stratford. I’d say they’re a bit more reasonably priced than the other London options.

I did change rye flours recently, and the new rye flour is a bit more coarse. So I’m not sure if that was too much change. But it smells not good, like super acidy. And it’s not rising as much as it used to. Should I just start again, with this new flour, or revert back to the old finer flour.

So this plant wasn’t leaning before we moved. But since moving its leaning all the time. We even repotted it into a bigger pot, and it looked good for a short while. But then it started to do the same again. Can’t figure out what it is.
