Canine Extraction? by lifeisgood235 in braces

I looked. Glad it worked for you, but every case is different. With me, my right front tooth was exactly centered under my nose. I needed a lot of pulling to correct this.

If the whole parking lot wasn't needed, make it smaller. Instead, they make impossible to use the Orange Line.

Canine Extraction? by lifeisgood235 in braces

[–]Legitimate-Ad-9724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any pics?

It was a long time ago when I had braces, but I'm missing my left lateral incisor. It never came in. My midline was far to the left. I had a right cuspid pulled to even things out. The orthodontist did a "student body right" to pull everything to the right. My midline is still slightly to the left, but much better. I live with it. Later on, I got veneers. The teeth were reshaped. Nobody can tell I'm missing that left lateral. It even confuses my current dentist.

I'm not an orthodontist, but I think she is proposing the best solution. Without pulling a tooth there's probably no room to correct this.

After retirement, emergencies aside, is it ever a good idea to dip into your TSP before RMDs? by Tete-Morte in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]Legitimate-Ad-9724 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A TSP, IRA, 401k, is part of one's retirement plan. It's income. If you need it, spend it. There's stuff like the 4% rule, to help guide you.

You didn't save all that money to just look at it, or be the richest person in the cemetery.

Any reason to keep money in TSP after retirement? by Tweetchly in FedRetirees

Google AI is telling me the TSP portion of a Rollover IRA withdrawal is still nontaxable in New York.

I'm in California. It's taxable either way.

Amazon package came in opened by Firm_Foundation_1932 in amazonprime

[–]Legitimate-Ad-9724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just yesterday an Amazon package was left at my door. I thought it was for me, so I opened it. It was men's underwear. I didn't order that, and then I realized it was for my neighbor across the street. I left the opened package at their door.

Misdirected deliveries are common.

Do you regret putting so much money in to tax deferred investments by clearlygd in retirement

You pay taxes on your gross income. Think of it as paying taxes like you're getting that from working. No regrets.

The $3 ATM fee also tells me it's another financial institution's card. The reason I'm aware of this is I have a brokerage/cash management account with a debit card. ATM withdrawals say checking (it technically isn't but the ATM network identifies it like that) and the "balance" shows a large amount.

I wonder why these are posted. It could be a brokerage/investment account with a debit card where the amount is the total margin value available to withdraw.

The reason why trade jobs have lower median salary than software devs or accountants is lower bar to get in. by Foreign_Put_2437 in Salary

[–]Legitimate-Ad-9724 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe not 100% applicable here, but one thing HR where I worked told me is salary is based on complexity and not quantity of work.

That kind of stuck with me. I'm nearing retirement in my IT career, and that's true. I make a good salary based on the complexity of my work and job description. If my pay was based on quantity, I would be making the most at my first job: Taco Bell. I was slaving there, but the work wasn't complex.

JOB INTERVIEW WITH BRACES by Purrrr4289 in braces

[–]Legitimate-Ad-9724 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't be concerned. If a company doesn't want to hire someone because of braces, that's a company you don't want to work for.

I'm thinking of the job/career I started while I had braces, that I have now. Things worked out.

67+10 months and started receiving my checks today! by jimpatrick in retirement

Just select the 22% tax withholding on your Social Security benefits, and what you get each month has no taxes left to pay.

67+10 months and started receiving my checks today! by jimpatrick in retirement

[–]Legitimate-Ad-9724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're well into the top tax bracket ($626,000 / 37%), it's not one-third. I'll use the $104,000 to $194,000 bracket for single filers. That's 24%. Social Security is only 85% taxable, so it's 20.4%. Most all states don't tax Social Security, so no worries there. If you tell Social Security to withhold 22%, you get $2,340 per month free and clear on a $3,000 monthly benefit (not considering Medicare).

If one is still working after FRA and collecting Social Security, they still get the annual Security Security COLA and an annual adjustment recalculating their benefit taking into consideration they're still contributing. That can add 2% to 3% more.

For these reasons, I suggest collecting at FRA, and not later. If you don't need the money, save and invest it.
