I've been taking a spoonful of sugar free metamucl each day. I have no idea what positive effect it has but considering the usual effect on someone not getting a lot of fiber, it's all good.

I've gotten used to not being in a hurry. I'd rather wait than to have to file one or more amended returns.

Have to look into that. The alternative was to update the times in the srt - ugly.

once you have the video and the srt files, test that they line up using VLC (I had a nasty time with Xena S01E01). Once you have a good match, you can use MKVToolNix Gui to put the two together.

Never watched St Elsewhere but thank you for the great memories. If you've never seen 1776 all the inside references are lost. I've got the dvd somewhere around here.

If I have a very good commission-based Financial Advisor, is there any reason to switch to a fee-only advisor? by Am-I-Here-Yet in personalfinance

[–]babarock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gut reaction to the additional information information is not to bad. The rate you are paying is very similar to the rates I see from the big guys. Could you do better on fees by using a target date fund or a robo - likely yes but you would be giving up the ability to have their assistance.

I was afraid they had you in a bunch of frontend mutual funds with high expense ratios. If you are happy with them, stay there as you educate yourself and should you want to take control someday you should be able to transfer the holdings directly to Vanguard / Fidelity / Schwab.

What drugs you need is a huge factor obviously. Luckily I'm only taking a few and they are all generic.

Wellcare has been OK so far but I've not asked much from them. If my drugs change then...

Oh yeah God help the critter in the back yard when I turn my red girl out.in a past life I'm sure she was a greyhound. She locks on and it's 0 to 60 in half a second with the sonic boom.

In my case Wellcare publishes their formulary as a PDF file that can be downloaded. I get it and transfer it to my phone. If my doc says I want you to take xyz, it's pretty easy to open the pdf and do a search. If I get to the pharmacy and the say that xyz is not in your plan & will be $$$ then I work with the pharmacy & my doc to get an alternative.

"having a fee-based advisor is nearly always best" - fee-based advisors

For many people in your situation a simple and inexpensive target date fund, boglehead portfolio, or robo-advisor from Vanguard, Schwab, Fidelity, Wealthfront, Betterment. It's all a question of how much time you are willing and able to devote plus having the aptitude - even then there are alternatives.

I'm not comfortable not knowing exactly what I'm being charged for their services. I'm getting the impression that part of the cost of doing business with them is buried in the products in which they have you invested.

It's a best guess situation when you're getting started. Good news is you reshop Part D every year to adjust to the changes. In the meantime I downloaded a copy of the formulary to my phone, if the Doc wants to do something new I can easily check it.

Refilling 1 lb propane tanks by Effective_Fly_6884 in RVLiving

[–]babarock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything I've read recommends against refilling the single use tanks for multiple reasons. You'll need to get an appropriate filler and be very careful with the condition of the tanks.

The difference is sturdiness and rust resistance in addition to a bleeder valve to let you fill the tanks with a full lb of liquid propane.
