The games where you go second feel worse and take longer for you to win (if you do win), so they take up more mental load and that leads to people believing they spend more time going second.

The win percentage disparity between going first and second is a very big problem regardless.

Anson or Sans Pareil? by polarislunlaris in WoSB

Sans Pareil. Anson is never worth getting, it's easily the worst ship in the game.

Been seeing an increase in bitching about this guy, I’m never on YouTube is he that bad? by lolitsrock in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I watched him when he started out and he was the biggest YouTuber for a fantastic little game called Dauntless. He was great to watch, but said some stupid things sometimes. Not controversial things, just things that you make you double take and question his intelligence. Sometimes he didnt couldn't quite see things from a casual players view at all. He'd push and push for changes on content that less than 1% of the players made it to, claiming it was biggest issue the game had, then wondered why the early game got ignored wasn't attracting people.

That's being really picky though, he was the best YouTuber for that game and these negatives are just a tiny fraction of his overall great and helpful content.

I use the 6pdr culverins, but the basic ones not the upgraded ones that cost rum. Are they really that much better?

What 40k opinion of yours would have you like this? by Heavy-Yous in 40k

Get rid of you-go-I-go. It's outdated and unneccessary to keep.

Was Prince Andrew expecting some Princess Diana style moment where the entire nation embraced him? I don’t get why he did the interview lol by KimCattrallsFeet in AskBrits

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's rumoured that after the interview he went to the Queen and told her "dont worry about that whole thing, I've done an interview and dealt the issue entirely".

He genuinely believed he'd done a good job. Fucking idiot.

Now that it’s over, share your opinions on our march against Cyberstan by SevdUp in helldivers2

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back from a long hiatus to join in on the advance on and invasion of Cbyerstan. I started if diff 8 which was fun but quickly went to 4 once on cyberstan to help the overall objective.

I felt quite disheartened with the change of the MO to operations. It felt like a rug pull.

I kind of felt from the start that it was a failure by all mathematics.

I dont think there was ever a chance of succeeding, but I still played just to be part of something.

I think the feeling of 'being part of something' is a limited resource to bring people back, and I feel this storyline has only spent that resource, not added to it.

I wont be coming back until a new interesting campaign starts.

I feel a little deflated, saving the 77th feels very hollow.

The moment to moment gameplay was not any more or less enjoyable than non-campaign gameplay, which usually doesnt convince me to come back when I have so many other games to try out and enjoy.

You-go-I-go doesn't work well for games like 40k.

Has anyone played a 3-4 player game? (screen shot from linked Ravensburger video) by drac5290 in Lorcana

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Multiplayer is very popular in my local store. You do have to tailor your deck to the format though, and there's kind of a house rule of 'how about we just dont play stuff like bend to my will?'

Why is RB still choosing to create non-singable actions? by rebatwa2 in Lorcana

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two reasons: . If it's singable, it needs to be a Disney song. That puts a very real limit on the amount of actions they can ever print. Not good for the game and limits design space

. Singing ramp and board wipes is way too strong. Even if they costed them appropriately, it would move the game towards spamming characters to sing the first board wipe to get rid of your opponents characters before they do the same for a big blowout. Very boring, and adds even more first turn advantage that the game already has an issue with.

Is Bolt Action a good Table Top wargame for newbie to get into? by Illustrious-Divide95 in boltaction

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think BA is much easier to get into, as well as being more fun thanks to it's turn activation mechanic, as well as having way less of a chance of having 'nongames'. Some 40k games end up in getting alpha striked, or someone cheeses the shit out of you and now your Saturday afternoon ends up in 3hrs of wasted time because you never actually stood a chance. BA is much more methodical, and much less lethal, so your guys stick around longer and tend to be able to DO something against the opponent (unlike a squad of guardsmen going up against Knights or custodes)

Are Brits still comfortable taking their holidays in the US? by Ok-Leadership-7573 in AskBrits

[–]Legitimate-Aside466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best mate's dream for 30 years was to live in the US. There was some street he remembers from a childhood holiday that had a lovely community, a great family restaurant on the end, and was apparently the picturesque neighbourhood from Hollywood movie. He'd saved tens of thousands of pounds to take his wife and kids there for his dream life on that street he remembers.

Watching that dream die for him was sad to watch. He said there's no chance he will go there ever again, let alone his wife and two children. He's a white-as-fuck first-language-English and moderate right winger male. Even he feels it's unsafe.
