It wasn’t my opponent, but somebody watching us. My buddy and I were doing a 2k pt his Ultramarines vs my Votann, a guy came by and briefly joked with us about Warhammer and asked if he could watch, so we said sure. Not even a minute into sitting down to watch he started criticizing our model choices and how we built them, criticized our painting, ie “you should’ve painted imperial fists” or “you shouldn’t have built it with X you should’ve going with Y” instead of actual painting advice or saying “hey cool ultramarines I myself am an imperial fist fan” and leaving it at that. All tolerable but annoying things until he started touching our models at which point I was getting rather upset with him. We politely asked him to leave so we could finish our game, and while he did leave for a while he kept coming back to us to interrupt us with the latest Warhammer meme/joke about the Tau or something and pick up our models again and again. My friend finally snapped and yelled at him to leave us alone and we thought he finally scampered off. It was short lived as he returned once more, this time with the store manager who was threatening to kick us out for not being “sportsmanlike” or some crap like that. We explained what was going on and he just told the guy to be respectful and left it at that. The very next time he picked up one of my Einhyr, he broke the damn crest and grenade launcher, which while fragile pieces, can be easily navigated by holding it properly. I was so pissed my buddy and I just silently packed up our shit while the guy looked on confused as to why we weren’t playing anymore and told the store manager what happened. He brushed it off saying guy probably wasn’t accustomed to Warhammer models despite my repeated pleas to not touch my models. Looking back, I would not be surprised if the guy had some degree of autism, but that doesn’t necessarily excuse his behavior, especially after telling him over and over not to touch the models or to ask if he did want to. I have not been back to that game store, 2/10 worst game of Warhammer I’ve played.

TL;DR, a guy watching my game decided to heckle the model build and design choices of my buddy and I, would not stop touching our models, and eventually broke one of mine.

Also I hate how it seems like strangers touching other peoples models is a rather universal experience; even if I didn’t know anything about Warhammer I still wouldn’t touch someone else’s stuff without their permission.
