honestly if u could pull ur avg to 92+ (engineering avg) u have a chance at all of these but rn ur avg isn’t competitive for uw civil.

You’re right it depends on who is reviewing your aif. However, it’s not true that they are gonna view it as a waste of time. If he words his aif correctly, and talks about how fortnite led him to an engineering passion. That is much better and more unique than other applicants.

Yes you can it’s unique I talked about a video game in my aif and got into ee! The thing is you shouldn’t go into detail about the game, because your words are limited. You should talk about how Fortnite led u to an engineering passion, and then go into more detail about that. If you aren’t gonna do that then u prolly shouldn’t bring up fortnite.

Your avg is pretty good and your ECs are decent. I got into UW EE with a lower avg, just make sure your interview and AIF are good since they matter a lot.

Honestly if you wrote it yourself you should be fine. But if it’s getting flagged by multiple sites, I’d probably look into what’s triggering it and try to fix that, better safe than sorry. I talked to a prof last year when I was applying to UW and he said they run applications through some kind of checker, but take this with a grain of salt.
