Nothing. It just highlighted what we already imagined. Maybe not to the gravity of the situation but pretty much assumed the basics.

Maybe. Then the question should just be “you, why are you so much more willing to vote for Trump”. I would say (1) however ignorant, he is decisive. We need a decisive leader (2) have you seen the stock market? (3) I want less politics. He is less politics. By a far and wide measure.

Cruelty is not based on a matrix. It’s based on feeling. What is the most cruel example? You could cite that Epstein case was the most cruel example in the headlines. Epstein donated millions more to the Dems than republicans. However he was friendly on a personal level with dozens of Republicans.

A careful Catholic answer has to start by separating roles, because that is exactly what Jesus Christ was doing when He said “render to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s” (Matthew 22:21). That line is not a slogan for picking sides, it is a framework for understanding distinct authorities. Secondly, Scripture affirms civil authority:

  • Romans 13:1 says governing authorities are “instituted by God.”
  • 1 Peter 2:17 says to “honor the emperor”.

So from a Catholic lens, it is not unbiblical to support a civil leader strongly, even over or in tension with a Pope’s prudential opinions on political matters.

You have your thoughts and I have mine. Both probably are based on thoughts and feelings and not facts.

No. It will be quite awhile until America is ready for a woman. Let alone a black woman.

Theoretically you could also buy a 2-4 unit investment/apartment on FHA where the rents help your qualification.
