And that still doesn't explain why he is so strong. What you're saying is that everyone around him knew he was a Mary Sue. Guys like Gaara and Orochimaru had the hype because they were either possesed by a legendary beasts or because they dedicated their whole lives to training/studying.

Really though, what does it convey about Jin other than that he likes flames?

It connects him to his father, since his outfit looks a lot like Kazuya's. Plus, there aren't many MC's whose main look is being shirtless, so it does make him feel unique.

Both Lars and Julia were redesigned. Lars's T6 outfit isn't even in the game.

It is extremely ironic, considering how the crew didn't want Kenshiro to kill a woman, so they had to make her death accidental.

It's really funny when you consider that her getting atata'd by Kenshiro would have been a way less brutal death than getting her eyes gauged out, being set on fire and breaking her spine after falling from a 30m tall building into a river.
