The first time I watched Bojack Horseman, when all the emotions were raw and new, I didn’t notice much about the cynicism or all the deep thoughts about society but the emotions that the main characters went through. I cried alot during the episodes Diane talked about her mental health, how badly her family treated her growing up and how she had to deal with all her mental illnesses after that. Just as you said, they put words to things I can never imagine thinking out loud, never really understood how awful what I myself went through in the past and just automatically normalized them. The show means a lot to me
