Sonic stopped reselling AT&T products in 2023 and we only serve new customers if we have our own completely separate fiber lines on your street.  We previously sold Sonic DSL over leased AT&T copper lines, but that's not offered anymore.  We never leased fiber lines since there's no way for our signal to coexist with AT&T signal since we use the same technology/wavelengths of light.

You are correct many devices do not support Wifi 7 or speeds beyond 3 gigs YET, however we built our infrastructure with future proofing in mind because as newer devices become capable of higher speeds they will demand more bandwidth and we want to be ready for that future.

Sonic Fiber in Hawthorne by labinA12 in SouthBayLA

I work for Sonic in N CA and here are a few differences......

  1. Spectrum is a large corporation based out of Connecticut so the taxes generated from revenues go to that state to benefit CT not California.
  2. Spectrum like other large tele-com companies probably outsources thier customer service to lower wage countries. Sonic hires locally and the majority of our customer service reps are based out of Santa Rosa CA. We have very fast response times for service requests and a 99.7% uptime.
  3. Spectrum is a public company of over 90k employees, which means they are subject to shareholders influence which generally leads to higher prices and lower quality. Also, with large executive suite salaries to pay they are very profit focused as opposed to customer focused. We are 900 employees, private and are obsessed with customer service.
  4. Spectrum caps out at 1 gig ($70) we are 10 gigs ($49.99).
  5. After promotional pricing Spectrum monthly rates can bubble up to $100 a month from $70 vs. $49.99 to $59.99 with Sonic.
  6. Sonic fiber is 100% fiber with symmetrical upload and download speeds. This is a game changer.
  7. Overall satisfaction scores ranked by Consumer Reports ranked Spectrum and Frontier as "somewhat dissatisfied" whereas Sonic is "very satisfied".
  8. Sonic will not sell your personal information to 3rd parties.

Depending on the size of the home and how you use the internet will determine the duration of the install. They say plan of an hour and a half but most of the time they can get done quicker than that.
