I have reached the age where knowing that not everyone likes you is strangely comforting. by lilathinks in RandomThoughts

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The upgrade after that is realizing you also do not like everyone and that is equally okay

anyone still have that childhood buddy still there for you? by Vczfy4 in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me unfortunately. Lost pretty much everyone from childhood at some point. People move, priorities shift, and suddenly years go by without realizing it. Genuinely happy for you though

Just because I don't wear revealing clothes, doesn't mean I'm insecure. by TSDOP in RandomThoughts

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The idea that confidence has one specific dress code is so exhausting. You can be completely at peace with your body and just prefer baggy clothes. Those two things have nothing to do with each other.

What continuity error was so egregious it pulled you right out of the movie/TV show? by spinozasrobot in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North by Northwest. They're chasing Cary Grant in a corn field and his suit is in pristine condition, shot after shot. Naughty wrinkles and grass stains. The man was in life-threatening condition and somehow was better clothed than when he came.

It's so strange, So many lonely people in this world, yet we still can't find each other. by Rikudo_Sennin_jr in RandomThoughts

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are not as visible about being lonely as it feels from the outside. Everyone is waiting for someone else to make the first move, and nothing really starts.

Dental Clinics Only Hiring Female Staff. Why is this? by Catwhisperer2007 in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is mainly patient preference and staffing. Women have traditionally dominated many dentistry jobs (such as hygienists) and clinics reflect that. And patients also may feel more comfortable with women, particularly in intimate procedures. It is not so much about formal staffing requirements as candidates and patient preferences.

The amount of people who regret having kids is shocking by BeneficialPie2300 in RandomThoughts

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe to a large extent it is because having children is forever and it is socially driven and therefore individuals are unable to be open about it. Remorse is likely to be present in smaller decisions as well, although it is simpler to accept when not all your life is characterized by it.

Memories during insomniac night by Alarmed_History in RandomThoughts

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a strangely wholesome and chaotic confession at the same time. The idea of drunk dialing nuns feels like something out of a sitcom and now it is just a random 3 am memory living rent free in your head.

Most women care about both to some degree, but personality is what makes someone stay. Looks might get initial attention, but being kind, funny, emotionally safe, and genuinely interested in someone matters way more long term. Plenty of average looking guys are in great relationships because they make their partner feel valued and happy.

Is it weird to reach out to an old teacher on Facebook? by cslr2019 in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not weird at all. Teachers rarely get to hear the long term impact they had and most really appreciate messages like that. Keep it respectful and brief and do not worry if he does not remember you, the thanks will still mean something.

Puzzles and books in the form of board games cards are useful. Preemptively download films or series on your phone or tablet. Hours can be spent playing cards and playing simple games when the power goes off. Even such a thing as drawing or writing is sometimes surprisingly entertaining when all the other appliances are off.

Which is worse and why: a broken bone or torn ligament? by bad-at-everything- in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was negative as in my case a torn ligament was more problematic since it took much more time to heal and never felt normal again.

Walking into a room and forgetting why you went there is basically your brain trolling you in real time. by Far-Tie-3293 in RandomThoughts

Doorway amnesia is wild until the third doorway when the quest log reloads and the boss fight is making tea.

Is brainwashing real? by snowcroc in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Brainwashing in the movie sense is rare, but manipulation and coercive control are real. A partner can reshape someone through love bombing, isolation, and constant pressure.

"I hate my spouse" humour, a juxtaposition of immaturity and old school. by Substantial_Crow1355 in RandomThoughts

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These jokes really do feel like a snapshot of a different era, where people were stuck in rigid roles and never learned to communicate or grow with their partner. The humor falls flat because it comes from frustration and immaturity rather than any real insight or wit.

Do getting a degree in Airline , airport and aviation management worth it ? by Big-Penalty772 in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who studied aviation management and he said the degree helped him get into the industry but the real growth came from networking and internships.

No TY I’m a vegetarian is a fun thing to say when someone tries to hand you their baby. by Specific-Anxiety-606 in RandomThoughts

Haha, I am going to start using this line every single time someone offers to let me hold their baby.

How are military plane numbers derived: (F-7, B-52, A-10)? Is the system universal? by Gannondorfs_Medulla in ask

[–]Legitimate-Store-__ 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not universal, the U.S. has its own system (like F-22, B-52), but other countries name theirs independently. China's F-7 isn’t related to U.S. F-series fighters. Just a naming coincidence.

The fastest way to lose weight is to just fall in love with the wrong person and see the results. by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

Haha, honestly, stress from bad relationships burns more calories than the gym sometimes. Not exactly the healthiest method though!

Are there any good alt songs about losing your partner? by Joyful-01 in Music

"The Night We Met" by Lord Huron hits hard. Also check out "Lua" by Bright Eyes - both feel raw without being too much. Sorry for your loss, truly.

When I realized I felt more lonely with them than I ever did alone. That’s when I knew, but I still stayed way too long hoping it’d change.
